News Chapter One Beta closure and last weekend of the beta treats

Thank you to all at FDEV for the opportunity to try out the Chieftain and see if its worthy of adding to our fleets! (It's definitely going in my Lakon-filled fleet) [yesnod][alien]

We wanted to take a moment to thank every Commander who loaded up the beta during this testing period. The feedback you provided was absolutely invaluable in making Chapter One of Beyond the best Elite Dangerous experience possible.

No worries... it's been fun. Just let us know when to uninstall the beta and it's off into the wild black yonder of the main game again.

o7!

Don't uninstall the beta!

When live is ready for downloading it will only download and update the files that have been changed from the beta to the live version, all the rest of the files in the beta that are unchanged from the live version will be used to update the live version, your download for the live version should only take about ten minutes if you already have the beta installed.

Oh, cool!

Thanks I forgot that!

Hi varonica,

that seems to be wrong, because the live-version will be installed in the directory "elite-dangerous-64" instead of "PUBLIC_TEST_SERVER_64" in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products.

When 3.0 goes live (or any other update with a beta in ED), it checks the existence of a beta folder, and if exists it uses the files there that have not been changed between the last beta update and release.

I hope my steam updater knows this as well... but I highly doubt it.
