Greetings Commanders,

We'll be bringing the Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter One beta to a close at 12 PM (GMT) today.

We'd like to thank every Commander who took the time to play the beta and shared their feedback with us. Your feedback is invaluable in making sure that the Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter One update is the best experience possible for you all, and we can’t wait for all Commanders to be able to experience it when it goes live.

The release date for Beyond - Chapter One will be announced in near future so keep an eye on our forums, newsletters, and social channels for more info!

As a general note, as with all previous betas, the 3.0 beta forum will be set to read only once 12PM/Noon rolls around. If you would like a thread moved out of there, please report the first post requesting such - a moderator will make a copy of the thread in dangerous discussion.

Count down stared until the first "What happened to all my stuff my Cmdr did on Beta. It's all gone. I'm going to sue Fdev" type posts....

Not sure why shutting the beta down until release is a thing now. Costs? Ill kick in a buck to keep playing Cheif Runner.

Hi all,

As of a few minutes ago, the switch has been flipped to the off-position for the 3.0 open beta! Thank you to everyone who participated, reported issues and bugs, and voicing your feedback.

Hiya,

Horizons is already available in-game if you purchased it.
Beyond and its series of updates, starting with the chapter 1, should start soon. Frontier will announce the date shortly.

Thanks Fdev for letting me play it, I was worried about what was intended. I still think some of it is Flawed, but 90 % of it is Fantastic. So thanks again.

To those debating the 12pm / 12am thing. It's actually both, and neither. Opinion is split and nobody can really decide.

some argue that 12 noon can not be either anti or post meridiem, others that once you have seen a clock say 12noon it is already post meridiem. some say 12AM and 12PM are BOTH midnight but would refer to midnight at the start or end of that particular say. some say 12am is midnight and 12pm is noon because you would say 12:30am etc.

Due to massive ambiguity, the National Physical Laboratory in the uk have stated it's probably better to not use am or pm and stick with noon / midnight as nobody can decide, everybody argues, and there is no definitive answer either way :D

With all that said, here they meant 12pm as 12 noon... which ahs already passed. Hope you all enjoyed the Beta and really looking forwad to getting stuck into the live build!

Thank you for the opportunity to test the new toys so they can be as good as they can be.

12:00 is midday 23:59 or 00:01 is the correct way to put midnight, 00:00 is actually a grid reference on a map

No, but with certain options in the launcher allow you to use these files to speed up downloading the real deal.

How do you do this? I'm on metered broadband! it would save me a lot of GB to download again :)

Why is it not the default install method?
