Character Achievements

Hey People,
I have been away from games for a little while and have just spotted Elite coming back.

loved the first one when I was kid and always wanted a remake of it.

I have a question for the people that have been playing. Sorry if it has been asked before but I couldn't find this info.

Is this game going to keep me playing a long time to reach some wonderful achievement for my character?

i'm not talking any WoW type of achievement for grinding the longest or getting special loot. More like an EVE type of achievement where I could slowly build my fortune up to a point where you are proud of what you have done.

From what I have seen there doesn't appear to be a large number of ships out, not sure if there is more planned. it looks as the game plans to be epic in size but haven't found too much on making the game/character your own.

I think the question if the moment to moment gameplay is fun more important than bwing able to grind to a certain end goal... And in ED it seems to be that way, as I have already spent a lot of hours with it, despite knowing that all my efforts will be erased once the next beta phase starts, and again when it goes gold.

But still, you can aspire to get the elite dangerous pilot rank, become filthyly rich or acaumulate a high bounty on your head by being notorious.

The story you are in is your own. Your achievements are what you want to make them. For me it will be exploring and opening up new trade routes. Along the way I may make Elite status but that is not an actual aim. So sure, if making a gazillion credits is what gives you that warm feeling deep down, then go for it and good luck out there Commander. :)

Ahh, the younger generation..... I have to laugh because I hear that so often. With my son, the kids he games with, hell, even the kids in his flight in JrRotc.

First off. This is not a character, it is YOU. There are no stats, there are no skills, aside from the ones that YOU, as the player, have.

What kinds of achievements do you get in life? You fly for yourself, so you don't get a raise. You are your own company do you don't get a discount. You aren't in a military service so you don't get a ribbon.

Guess that leaves the last earn-able achievement. Here is your....

You have joined the legions of Elite Dangerous Beta testers. How many of your friends can say they have done that.

It is a very limited achievement. Probably no more than a hundred thousand or so players will ever be able to say that. That will be out of the Millions that will play.
