Being lucky enough to find a region with a higher star density sooner than expected Charlie was able to plot a course directly towards Beagle Point.
Getting closer and closer towards Beagle Point they questioned themselves if it was going to be as they expected it to be.
After all it was a long journey.
One that was exhausting and difficult to complete.
Looking at the Galaxy they felt lost and alone, altough they had themselves.
Maybe that was it, it was just them out there, trying to do something difficult without a really good reason.
After the final jump they were happy to have made it to Beagle Point, soon after Charlie started looking for a place to land and set a course for a mountainside on Beagle Point 9.
They were happy to have made it but after so much time spent it felt kind of empty to reach the end of the road.
And with the threat of a new Thargoid war rising they asked themselves that if they decide to live on, could they make a difference once the war begins?
Or would they be just another casualty on a very long list?
Having it made to... what should they do now? It took it... it was the only thing i had left to do, i... it was the last thing i promised him to do but now that i am here i, i dont really know what... what there is left for me... i promised him to life on, but in reality i dont want to life a live where i know that he is dead because i made a mistake, it might just be that i am depressed of being out here for so long all alone, that makes me... right now i, it just doesn't make sense... if there is anybody out there listening... ... what should i do?
The last day I tried to figure out what to do next.
I watched old videos and photos and told myself some old storys.
All in all just remembering how live was with him.
From the moment we met to... you know what.
I still remember his last [inaudible]... he said that... .
Anyways... he, wouldn't want me to give up.
Altough at this point it's... almost the easiest way.
I... just... ... ... don't want to accept that he died because of me.
But... what happend, happend... .
And I cant just go back and change that.
I could buy me ultimate happines and decide to live in a virtual reality, where everything is alright... but that would be the definition of living a lie.
Talking about lies... if there is anybody reading this... you probably do it for the story of Charlie, Jeff and Tim. Well they are no real sentient AI's. Just VI's, just a bunch of protocols and algorithms, nothing that is really capable of thinking for itself or anything that could be described as a 'real lifeform'.
They are... probably alive in some alternate universe. But here they are just programs I used to hide behind.
If you'd like i can tell you what they are "thinking".
Tim still wants to go back and get ready to fight.
But he wouldn't want to leave his friends behind out of selfishness justified by the whish to help others.
Charlie is happy to have made it to Beagle Point, he feels sorry for ignoring the others during the last part of the journey.
Right know he would do almost anything as long as he can do it together with his friends.
And Jeff is very happy that he was able to explore a planet at Beagle Point and just like Charlie is happy to be with his friends.
I for one are currently waiting for someone to pick me up... because, I made the decision to just the send the three out there to explore on their own.
They might just be VI's but... I like them, and since I programmed them I'm pretty much their father. Which means that at some point I have to let them go. Letting them seek their own destiny, letting them life their own live. And since they were the only company I had out there... I owe them that. Waiting for my 'taxi' I'm going to give them some additional lines of programming and just give them the objective to explore the galaxy on their own. They will have plenty of time to do that and who knows maybe they will return one day, thousands of years later and wonder where everybody went. But as of now, they have their own future ahead of them.
Today Charlie, Jeff and Tim met CMDR Guy de Lombard and CMDR chessi.
CMDR Guy de Lombard was the first one to arrive.
Shortly after CMDR chessi arrived.
-I knew that Guy de Lombard was in the area and the analytics showed that meeting with other ships was one of the things Charlie, Jeff and Tim 'enjoyed' the most. So I decided to do them this -probably last- favour before I let them go on their own.-
Charlie was very happy to meet other ships at Beagle Point.
Shortly after everyone was ready they started to fly in a loose formation.
Tim was happy that he could fly together with other ships.
Guy de Lombard told Charlie that he and CMDR chessi are at Beagle Point to meet members of the Summer Expedition as they arrive at Beagle Point on the 9th of July.
Something that made Tim very happy is that he was able to fly around with another SLF.
After flying around for some time both returned to their ships.
-That was probably the last time I flew around with Tim. Sure I can get another Taipan that is basically just like him but after some time every ship is unique. I hope he does well once out there, only with Charlie and Jeff, without any pilot.-
Moments later Charlie looked for a place to land and for Jeff to drive around, to his surprise he was faster then the other ships.
Charlie, Guy de Lombard and chessi landed in the middle of a big crater.
Jeff was very keen to meet other SRV's.
Jeff, chessi and Guy de Lombard did meet in the middle of the landing site.
Together they headed out to explore the crater and to have fun.
Thinking about what to do first they decided to just drive around for fun to test how good Beagle Point 9 is to drive on.
It was a bit difficult at higher speeds but they managed to do it quite well.
After getting used to the moons surface they did proceeded deeper into the crater.
They had much fun together.
They really liked to jump around.
And doing some tricks.
Jeff was very happy that the other SRV's also had some fun.
After some time they decided to make a little race to the edge of the crater.
At first CMDR chessi took the lead.
Jeff tried to get closer using his jump thrusters.
With some luck he flew past CMDR chessi.
The distance increased and Jeff was confident that he was going to win.
But Jeff wasn't really careful while driving which meant that CMDR chessi was able to catch up again.
And CMDR chessi took the lead again.
CMDR chessi was able to hold the lead for quite some time.
But after CMDR chessi crashed into rock Jeff was able to surpass him.
After some time Jeff was still in the lead.
As suddenly Guy de Lombard appeared again.
Jeff was surprised that Guy de Lombard was able to surpass CMDR chessi so fast.
Climbing up the side of the crater was the more difficult part of their little race.
During that part Guy de Lombard crashed into another rock and CMDR chessi surpassed him.
It was difficult for Jeff to drive up a wall with a 50 degree angle.
But for the other two it was a bit more difficult.
Jeff was the first to reach the top.
Second was Guy de Lombard.
And third CMDR chessi, together they enjoyed the view.
They all returned to their ships and waved each other goodbye.
As did I. I boarded CMDR Guy de Lombard's Anaconda so he can take me to a nearby civilian cruise liner with which I am going to travel back to the Bubble.
This is the last picture I made of Charlie before he charged his FSD to explore the Galaxy. Charlie, Jeff and Tim are now out there until... who knows. I am going to miss them but I would have... probably given up out there all alone with just some VI friends. In a few weeks I might start another open log, since one of the things he said is, is... "[inaudible] share your life with someone else."
