Ships Cheap ASP

Problem i have atm is that I can afford the ASP (and i really really like the ASP by the way) but cant afford to properly outfit her at the minute.
So i have 3 options with my uber Cobra 'Intrepid'.
1. Continue exploring in her
2. Bounty hunt in her (good cobra combat build gratefully accepted)
3. Trade in her

I anticipate I need 20mil creds float in addition to the 9mil creds I have tied up in ship/assets atm. Any suggestions? As always I value your opinions.

I've been running this modest build as an armed trader, it'll cope with most NPC's and the A class thrusters will usually get you out of trouble if the going gets tough ;) running class 5D shields will get the cargo capacity closer to 100 T with around 15% drop in shield capacity, TBH the biggest improvement was the A class thrusters the added agility and speed are well worth the cost.

I reckon everyone should have (and keep!) a Cobra, previously for BH I'd have just fitted a pair of class 2 pulse but with the improved NPC's I'd suggest some laser or m-cannon turrets on the small hard points as well, all the weapons wont be firing all the time as the ship maneuvers and the turrets will continue to fire even as you evade so power wont be as big an issue as you's think (been using a similar build on a Viper in a Conflict Zone so it works for me ;))

What I did when I bought the Asp before parking my Cobra was go RES bounty hunting in Alliance space. It makes you money and it makes you allied with the Alliance eventually. Once you get the allied status, fly somewhere close to Alioth that's controlled by the Alioth Independents. 78 Ursae Majoris, for example. Since allied status with the Alliance = allied with sub factions, you should find the alioth permit mission on the bulletin board there.

Kill two birds with one stone, sort of - make money while acquiring the permit. However you approach it, good luck with the Asp, it's a nice ship :)

Best off going to Alioth for 20%, if you don't have the permit or the time to get it you can get a 15% discount at Li Yong-Rui controlled/exploited systems. You can also get 15% off outfitting which makes it worth the trip in a sidewinder to pick up and upgrade the new ship.

Lembava has 23.5% off FSD's until the 15th/16th as well if you get there the next few days.

Had to re-read the title 'cheap asp' I thought it said something else was gonna point ya to certain bars in the lave sector lol ;)

Hehe it was intended ass and asp very close:)

My Fighting cobra build for inspection and comments:

Not a bad build, high damage but high power use.
I'm assuming its an NPC fighting ship seen as you have the mobius banner. I also assume you are fighting wanted targets but I may be wrong. :)
Personally I'd go for D class sensors and life support. Swap the point defence for a kill warrant scanner (E) and the smaller weapons for multi-cannons. It'll offer a more protected approach giving you increased hull damage and increased payouts if you scan your targets for additional bounties.

If you decide to (and/or when you get the credits) the above will give you the power to make the FSD A grade, the shield A grade and even put in a shield cell bank (4B) instead of the class 4 cargo rack.
If you have the 4A shield, 4B cell bank and the A booster then you are in a really solid shield position and I'd remove the hull package for cargo, maybe armour too since the cobra hull is still one of the strongest stock anyway and its the fastest ship in the game so a few boosts and your safe anyway..

Although the power plant has sufficient power the power distributor capacitor will only run 4 beams for a few seconds before having to recharge, beams use almost twice as much power as pulse and the Cobra (and Viper) will need to have 3 or 4 pips to the weapons practically all the time and this will impact shields and flight performance.
I've used class 2 gimbaled pulse and class 1 m-cannon turrets on a Diamondback scout to good effect, although the small hardpoint location on the Cobra is less than ideal it should still be pretty effective (turreted weapons will let you evade incoming fire while still getting hits on the target)

I like the idea of this. Yes I am flying under Mobius and yes I sit at nav beacons killing wanted NPCs for bounties.

New build. Im liking the medium beams and small multicannons but not sure whether it is the best use of power.
