I'm a daily reader of the ED forums but I don't usually post but today I think its time to break my silence.
I've noticed the reactions everyone is having over the recent price drops on the two new ships from the 1.2 wings patch, both good and bad and thought I would throw in my 2 cents.
As mainly bounty hunter myself I've always dreamed of flying in a bigger better ship and thought that eventually after some hard work I'll attain my goals.
I picked up trading to help my income but I just didn't like that mind numbing repetitive nature of it. I have to admit though, there is a great feeling of doing
all your research and finding a great route and seeing all the profits roll in but in the end I felt like I was wasting time grinding when I could be out there battling some pirates.
I settled on a lower income for the sake of just enjoying my time in the game, instead of having it feel like a second job. I have hunted enough to earn myself an asp but there is
no use buying one as it would take a lot more money to make it worth combat.
For me the patch allows more players to access a better tier of ships and finally might make the universe actually dangerous. In my time trading I never felt like I was actually in danger.
While I agree that 5mil seems a lot cheaper than I thought (10mil seems reasonable due the recent bump in bounty hunting, TY btw FD!) it seems to fit the viper to cobra and Vulture to asp comparison at the price points.
A noob in an expensive ship is a still a noob and no amount of money will change that, if a conda pilot meets a reasonable viper pilot then the viper would win most times.
What I suspect is traders and people who are against the new accessibility because it is going to make their otherwise very easy and mundane jobs harder.
The game is not easier it has just become harder with ease of access brings competition at a higher level.
How hard core are you if you are afraid of small time noobs getting some new ships.
