Cheapest Station to buy a Corvette at?

As the old saying goes, "if you need to ask..."

It's a dedicated combat ship, so the hull cost by itself is insignificant if you--apparently--can't yet afford the mandatory upgrades which should run you another 600-800m cr.

Good rule of thumb is about a 1b cr liquid asset to comfortably purchase and outfit that ship--plus the appropriate engineering materials and unlocks to turn it into a real combat asset that can justify the investment because it has the capabilities to live up to its potential. In other words, do it right or not at all.

Lot of people start by gradually A-rating their Anaconda components over time and then cannibalize them to lessen the blow when the time comes to get their Corvette. Most major components are interchangeable. The Anaconda is a far better and more versatile ship for just about anything you can do in the game, especially now that Massacre missions got nerfed, it's really hard to justify a Corvette unless you have extra cash sitting around for the sake of having one.

This last one can be enough of an argument to push the button as it's arguably the most imposing flyable ship in the game to date. But it's expensive to re(buy) and operate on the logistics side. Speaking of logistics, you don't really want to get into any of the big ships without Elite ranking in something and having access to Shinrarta Dhezhra. The convenience factor to have access to every module in one place is super convenient (at a discount) will alleviate wondering around the bubble to buy modules even when you have the funds.

On the skills side of things, it's far more easier to learn to fly and fight in smaller combat ships before you graduate to any of the big 3 and try to rely on turrets and shields to do the work for you. Elite 3.0 NPCs can easily defeat a Corvette with specially engineered weapons that can disable your critical modules thru the shields...just saying. It's big and bad but running away isn't one of its strengths.

Fully kitted out plan on 720mil. credits at the 15% discount even.
And to the other post about savings. If you buy your upgraded modules also at 15% discount assuming most typical A class stuff and some big guns you will save a total of about 112mil credits for the ship+modules vs. elsewhere. So yes, 100mil saved.

Hi op. Scully power station in the ix system is where I got mine it controlled by LYR
and its a high teck station so the discount and they have all the upgraded modules there in the system.

I am a bit concerned that you have managed to get to a situation where you have sufficient funds and rank unlock to be able to purchase an end game ship WITHOUT knowing how to answer this question.

Slow down, take a breath and enjoy some of the earlier Elite: Dangerous ships. I fear you are running the risk of game burn-out.

Let this guy blaze his own trail, ok?

You should definitely get up to Elite in somthing before you buy the Corvette. You'll save hundreds of millions of credits if you outfit your Corvette there.

Why? I bought my Python, Anaconda, Corvette, and Cutter a little over 2 years ago - before 2.1/Engineers and before I hit Elite in Trade. I bought all of them at LYR stations and saved 15%, not the 10% at Shinrarta. All modules were also bought at 15% at various LYR stations.

Shinrarta is for when you want a discount AND have every module/weapon available in the game for sale in one place - e.g, when you're lazy. [big grin]

And yes, I did it back then we people were screaming about how we were making too much money in our Cutters by doing a trade loop that netted 2 million in profits every 10-15 minutes (or about 8 million an hour) by using things like EDDB. You can imagine how amused I've been by all the "exploits" since: Sothis/Ceos, Robigo, Quince, Smeaton, etc.

The OP asked a question. Just give him an answer or not. No need to be judgemental.

OP: As others have suggested, use eddb.io to find a good station. I just checked and there are a LOT of choices, including the one I bought mine at 2 years ago - Ohm City in the LHS 20 system. You'll probably have to fly it/ship it elsewhere to get all the modules with a discount. Have fun!
