Cheating cmdr

Name known to people in charge, I'm sure of it, won't name it here.

Thread with video proof has been deleted but I still want to know what will happen with that cmdr!

We all payed for this game to play it free of cheaters and exploiters but I see more and more of them in game. Is anything at all being done about this issue?

If you believe someone is cheating then report them and leave FD to deal with it (or not if the report proves incorrect).

You will not get feedback on your reports but FD are investigating, logging and dealing with cheating/hacking.

Completely agree. I was about to post a similar thread myself.

I actually wonder whether these threads are closed under the pretence of protecting CMDRs or acrually FD.

Em.....

Videos of a serial cheat are posted all over Youtube .... and FD have ignored it..... how much EVIDENCE does the tea-boy in Cambridge need before he starts to work ?

I'm not the one who recorded the cheating cmdr. And I'm not the one who deleted the original post with video proof.
I just want to know if anything will be done about that issue.

Hello Cmdr. Every reported case is looked at by Frontier on case by case basis and they will not advise you if the suspect was found guilty or not. Frontier will however shadowban them if they were cheating, which means they will be placed on a special server with other cheaters. Their actions have no effect on the game universe everyone else is playing, i.e. they won't be able to contribute to CG's, they won't affect Powerplay stats etc. etc. etc. They can still play, but can't affect anything and they can only see other people that were shadowbanned.

(Bear in mind I'm not a Frontier employee and the information I've given is available publicly on the forums).

Frontier have no obligation to constantly browse YT and bazzilion of other video sites in search of cheaters? The correct procedure is to report such cases via in game Report option and then they'll looked at and dealt with accordingly.

That's what actually bothers me. "Like any other cmdr." Clearly he's not afraid of another cmdr recording him and even brags about it in local chat. He's not afraid of getting punished. Why is that?

And some public announcement, some generic c/p text is not reassuring me that anything is being done about it.

Just because you're not reassured doesn't mean it's not happening ;)

I, for one, am reassured that cheaters are being dealt with. But that also doesn't change anything :)

I saw the vid before it was deleted and I have met a couple of cmdrs using this shield hack, i.e. the incoming shield dmg is decreasing with the shield power. I think it would be nice to publish the vid link so that people can recognise this cheat. It would at least be nice by fd to replace dmg done by cmds using this. Also it should not be a problem to detect this cheat in a pear to pear environment.

You can't post a link to the video (which I too saw) which names this commander, on this forum, without breaking at least one forum rule.
However ... if someone were put the name on an Elite Dangerous fan site ;) ... that site too, couldn't then be linked to on this forum (same forum rules #12, #13 & #14)

Looks like the forum Mods can't pass on the info either... because they are too busy .... modding zillions of forum posts

or using puppet accounts

The moderators are just volunteers and we have no access to any information like that mate.

See, that's the problem: In every game where the company in charge deals with cheaters one by one, they will end up with a massive amount of cheating. This problem can't be solved manually, there has to be a system that automatically checks if someone is messing around with parts of the game. In this case, there has to be a plausibility check of the shield status and damage done.

I've never seen a game where the manual approach of players reporting cheaters has worked. Every single game that does this has failed to take appropriate measures against cheaters.

Fair enough. I don't really have much experience in this field, so I can only say what I know from the developers' posts on the forums.
