commenting so I can find the thread easily and see how it progresses...... that being said I have wondered how secure this game is against hacking due to the fact that instances are supposably driven clientside, I am playing a couple of other early access games and one in particular has a lot of its game play driven clientside and this has caused an inordinate amount of hacking. everything from increasing the damage of all your weapons to changing what your new character spawns with when you join a server.

However knowing how this type of culture is so prevalent in any pvp environment that is hackable and the fact I have not seen it here so far makes me wonder as to the accuracy of the op.

He trolling so hard. He can't even spell half the time. I doubt his hex is accurate. ;p

So a community member steps out and tries to speak up for the betterment of everyone and people call him a troll? What kind of backwards community is this? I thought insulting players was against the ToS for the forum!?

Really guy? If he "can" hack anything, he obviously would know how to report it. Which isn't here.

Mods are gods but no where to be found?

The OP uses obnoxious and insulting language while ranting on the forum instead of ticketing what he perceives as an issue and moving forward. OP deserves everything he gets so maybe next time he can reflect a little before sharing his gems with da internetz.

People have found exploits before, difference is they submitted tickets to FD rather than make threads like this. I'm sorry if the subtly of that distinction escapes you.

I highly doubt instance contents are client-side. Some very essential parts of combat do get decided client-side, which makes it vulnerable to exploits, but the part that says you're encountering an Elite Anaconda, that comes from the server, and if you kill that Anaconda, the server checks against its own contents to see if it has to give you a bounty (which is all server-side).

I'll give you that you -could- theoretically change that Anaconda into a weaponless Sidewinder with no engines in your client, with some significant effort, but it would be way too much effort for anyone to do any significant amount of money off it. You'd be better off with a vanilla trading run.

No not at all, i actually choose what spawns in the USS befor i drop into it

and yes i have ticketed it.

You are very very wrong. USS are random events stored on your computer.

Sounds like a lot of work without much benefit compared to other methods of making credits right now. But hey, if it's exciting keep plugging along bud. I hex edit too but I didn't need to bother to pull in over a million an hour bounty hunting last night.

@Cheknov,

Please don't post any code to the forum, or anywhere for that matter, that enables people to cheat.

If you're interested in helping secure the code and making ED better then you should ticket what you find and open a dialogue with the developers.

Frontier staff have proved to have good dialogues with helpful WhiteHats in the past.

Without that dialogue you'll be risking actions being taken against your game account if any cheating is detected.

The truth of the matter is that a lot of stuff that can give you income in ED is randomly generated on the client and then submitted to the server which has no choice but to accept the values as legitimate. This is what Cheknov is talking about; almost nothing in ED is server authoritative.
