Well yes, considering I discovered them 
. They are cool, but I was in my Anaconda exploration ship and didn't have any weapons so I just scanned them with my Composition scanner and that was it. Was tempted to go back with weapons, but didn't get around to it and am off on another exploration trip now instead.
I liked viewing them on the dark side of the planet as there are 2 areas of the ring where they exist...

You can probably throw a research limpet at them like you can with other space organics and get tissue samples.
I did this with the things in the Trifid Sector (Collared Pods), got a Seed Pod Tissue Sample. It's description was entirely uninspiring (enough so that I didn't screenshot it or anything)
By all accounts, they're only worth about 20k credits and aren't used for anything else though. Wait for a CG to collect this sort of thing I guess?

No I didn't, did you fire at the hearts to get them to produce them? I noticed the pods are in the Codex now too...

Hey Cosmo, just have one question about this. in the Codex I saw that these...things. appear in rings (more specifically the pods they spawn have the description of "L type star, Terrestrial HMC world, Rings") If I was to shoot a probe into a ring of a planet, will it reveal the Void Heart Location on the nav panel (much like Hotspots for mining) or is this something that needs to be found physically?
Haven't tried that. I think you need to visit the Codex locations to see if they're present.

No the Void Heart appeared as a normal Signal much like any other signal does in the lower end of the spectrum. I originally jumped into the system as I knew it has brain trees and I wanted to check out how that looked in the new FSS for biological POI's on landable planets.Ah, so this was one of those "Rumoured" sites that people found?
When I jumped in the system I noticed more of the Notable Stellar Phenomena as I had been finding out in the Sagittarius-Carnia Arm and Dryman's Point (I found quite a number out there) pop up on my FSS and went and scanned them and there were the hearts.
So not sure if they are random FSS or if they had something to do with the brain trees previously existing at that location or not...
