Check this out:

Inside joke?

Many of their writers participated in the GamerGate drama (such as contributing to the whole "Gamers are Dead" nonsense) so a lot of gamers won't visit them out of principle.

Aaaanyway, headset looks cool: http://www.starvr.com/

Here's some 'specs':
- Covers huge amount of the FOV for each eye (130deg vertical and 210deg horizontal, with 100deg binocular overlap)
- Dual 5.5" QHD displays for total 5120x1440 pixels (2650x1440 per eye, nice)
- Submillimeter 360degree optical and IMU tracking system of headset and peripheral devices (whatever those are) - apparently can track additional objects by tagging them with glyphs/markers.

Depending on the price, might be good. I'm happy for more players to enter the VR arena. More the merrier.

Impressive, that's the future for sure. the only problem I see here: the computer which can manage such resolution/FOV will not be ready until some years, at least, at a reachable price for mass market.

Wow, that does look very cool. But apart from the monstrous PC required to drive it, it must weigh a lot. I'd strap it on and instantly head-desk it. :p

It would also require special rendering methods. Just increasing your FOV won't work.

They mention the response times aren't as good as Vive/Rift. This seems like a compromise, you get higher resolution and (way) higher FOV but trade it for higher latency. I think if higher resolution without sacrificing latency was possible, both Oculus and HTC would've done it as well.

Not sure why the weight would be that prohibitive. We'll have to wait on the final specs to be published.

No information on refresh rate and perstistance yet but it does look interesting.
competition is good and even if it wont be perfect it will push the competitors to provide something similar.
It's great news.

After the Oculus Rift and/or the Vive I'll buy the first one which will have a 360 degree FOV with transparent screen to allow Virtual and augmented reality, allowing you to see "La vie en Rose" ;)

Oh, I was joking, but a prototype seems to exist!:
