Checkpoint in the Yembo System

This morning I was on my way back to Naddoddaur Terminal in the Yembo system when I noticed a Checkpoint waypoint available. I set course for it and after dropping out of Super Cruise I found a small group of Cobras, Vipers and (I think) an Asp. There were repeating messages along the lines of "We'll make the pirates pay", "Death to the invaders", etc.

None of the ships were players so I couldn't communicate with them but clearly something was going on. Anybody else see anything like that, in Yembo or anywhere else?

Checkpoints apppear in lockdown systems, - not sure what the point of them is though, as in - why would ships be forced to drop out of supercruise at a 'checkpoint', - similarly non-sensical to nav points.

Now if you had to pass through the checkpoint in order to dock at a faction station or be heavily fined...that might make sense.

Yep, makes no sense. A station under lockdown should have a checkpoint further out from the normal station disengage (say 50km) All ships must drop out at this point for scanning and then continue to the station. Stick Elite Conda's and Pythons to do the scans & enforcing. At the moment checkpoints are useless.

Saw those myself this evening, completely ignored them. I would assume it is a response to the increased pirate activity resulting from a target rich environment with the Yembo Interstellar Community Resourcing.

I was about to come and make a post about it.

Found a checkpoint in Yembo as well.
Rather confused about what it does tho...

with all the increased influence from the trading that took place with the community goal, it looks like a couple fo minor factions have goneto civil war. The checkpoints are from CW or lockdown which is to keep a political situation stable, either way its an opportunity for some pew pew or just ignore them.

i was rather tempted to open fire towards the "evidence storage" ship sitting there with only few small security vessels guarding it. Figured i would get a sore eye for that, so i just left the area...

yeah the conflic zones are a little one sided and bugged. unless u want the dominant faction toppled, youd be better off USS hutning or killing traders to weaken them and turning bounties in. devs will work on it in the next 6 months or so

Im hoping they are placeholders for something because at the moment they are pretty pointless - and as more and more systems seem to go into lockdown they seem to be multiplying like rabbits
