Checkpoints?

I keep seeing these "Checkpoints" around systems that I have never seen before, but searched forums and found nothing?

Just as I was typing I realized maybe they were jump points to get from system to system within a system faster? I will test it out...

Yeah, i've seen a couple of those. No idea what they are intended for.

I think they are for blockaded systems. When I drop in they scan you and thank you for cooperation.

Oh maybe always appearing in zones with conflict areas?

Yeah they always seem to appear in systems that have conflicts. They seem to me to be some sort of staging point... go meet your friends at the staging point then fly into the combat point as a group (or now a wing) maybe?

Make sense, I must have never been around a combat zone before.

One just happens to be in my home town of Yarrite now so it became noticeable.
