Checkup on the state of the game.

As title says. Main queries being:

Sandbox yet? (Not creative mode the game launched with. Screw that rubbish.)
Decorations?
Carnivores don't instantly go "DERE ME OTHERS IN MY PEN! KILLLLL!" and instead go "...I'll eat it if I'm hungry."?
Carnivores act intelligently to the Gyrospheres, and attack them?
Herbivores actually form herds, instead of wandering across the other side of the map, and going "I NEED SOCIAL!!!!"?
Good sized maps.

You know. Basic things...Which the game should of launched with?

Too lazy to check through months of posts to check for this information. (At least I admitted it.)

They fixed carnivores killing needlessly and added actual herding. The creative mode has also been vastly improved.

I’m assuming the last time you checked was when the game launched, way back in June.

Sandbox – Tons of new options added – Day-Night Cycle/ Time of day settings, financial difficulty, unlimited lifespan and feeders, complete relief of Dino requirements, ability to switch off Dino fightings etc.

No decorations yet.

As Butter said, no instant kill. Also, Dino with similar stats will not fight to death and personally I found their tendency to fight depends on number of goat presence in an enclosure.

Nope. They will not attack Gyrosphere but they do stare at them as always.

Herbivores and carnivores herding mechanisms are added. They are great! (Based on 1.5 update)

Nope. There are 2 new maps with the paid DLC. They are heaven-like maps but sizes remain the same.

Of course, also, the wonderful day-night cycle was added, attraction camera views are added, along with the torturing but fun to be played with Challenge mode on all maps.

Personally, I find the updates to be as perfect as it can be. If you already owned the game, it’s definitely worth launching it again!

Sandbox..Check
Decorations..nope
Carnivores killing spree...reduced but still an issue cz they still hunt not based on their needs (AND THEY LEAVE THE CARCASS ALONE AFTER 1 OR 2 BITE N GO HUNT AGAIN)
Carnivores act intelligently..nope
Herding..added in 1.5 but still pretty basic to me. (Need more improvement)
Good sized maps ..still the same.

Yeah, that eating 1 or 2 bites and then leaving thing is weird. There's more food there.....also, i remember in JPOG the corpses turned into partial skeletons if i remember correctly.
Hearding is basic, but more annoyingly the dinosaurs clip alot into eachother, unless fixed in 1.6, busy couple of days...i should play some more.

You're all saying sandbox has been "Improved" Does this mean they actually added a sandbox, or are they still falsely calling their Creative Mode a Sandbox?

Sandbox
Same with improvements
Same map, but there have been a number of extra options that have been added. Day/Night cycle and many tweaks for managing dinosaurs for example.

Decorations?
Nope.
There are more dinosaur skins now, while it is an improvement, that really doesn't count.

Carnivores don't instantly go eat herbivores
Check.
Yes carnivores now do not hunt when they are full on hunger. A carnivore might still occasionally kill a herbivore, but not all the time.
And carnivores will take a bite of a carcass if they are hungry, even if it's not their own kill.

Herbivores actually form herds
Check.
Not just herbivores but also other social animals like raptors form social groups that stick together and some also have an alpha that everyone else follows.

Good sized maps
No.
But there is one paid DLC that adds two new maps.

Summary
In general it's mostly the same game but improved in many areas. It's mainly the dinosaur behaviour that has improved most. But there are other improvements as well. More dinosaur skins. New type of large feeder that have a bigger supply and don't need to be resupplied as often. Visitor view from monorail, viewing buildings and hotels which is kinda neat. The challenge mode adds some replay value as well.
There are two paid DLCs right now.
- Secrets of Doctor Wu: This adds 2 new dinosaurs, Olorotitan and Troodon. The latter is venomous. It also adds 3 new hybrid dinosaurs. 2 new small maps and a story line with missions that go with it.
- Cretaceous Dinosaur pack: This is just a dinosaur pack that adds Iguanodon, Carcharodontosaurus and Dreadnoughtus.

Overall I personally think that decorations are probably what the game needs most right now. But the dinosaur management and behaviour has been nicely improved. That was kinda the focus of the game to begin with. So it's basically a better version of what it was in the beginning. But there aren't that many huge additions that really change the game in a major way.
I'm still enjoying the game in any case.

Not sure what you mean by falsely calling it Sandbox. But they added a load of options like Day/Night cycle, lots of options for turning off dinosaur needs, lifespan etc. infinite feeders. That sort of thing. So it's similar but improved a lot due to the extra options.

A Sandbox is where you're thrown into a world, and told to do everything from scratch, no options to disable anything, optional cheat mode (if you want to be boring, disabled by default.) See: Assasins Creed (You do what you want, and do quests), Most MMOs, Most RPGs...A Prime example for a Sandbox in this style, is Operation Genesis. You got thrown onto a random island, and told "...make a park.".

What they have called a "Sandbox" is a Creative mode game mode, with a few options. So calling it a "False Sandbox" is 100% Valid, honestly.

Added to the game and is called challenge mode.
You can play challenge mode on every island now also.
