Chemical processors.

I accidentally acquired a good few Chemical Processors just by trying to complete a cargo mission.

After accepting the mission, I got a message that enemies would be after me. And man were they ever. Just trying to complete two cargo haul missions, and I've had to destroy 3 FDL, and 2 Anaconda. There are at least 2 more Anaconda trying to kill me, still be destroyed (or evaded, yea good luck in T9).

So with the system police helping, these enemy ships go down, and some were dropping Chemical Processors and a good few other G5 rares. I gathered some Exquisite Focus Crystals, and some other G4 materials while waiting for my shields to recharge before jumping into the next interdiction.

Rare drops or not, though, I'm just getting tired of it. I can't complete either cargo mission I've got active now (at least not in the time I've got available to play), and will probably have a few million in penalty and fines for the trouble. And killing the ships just keeps upping my combat rank, and locking me into this cycle deeper.

I guess the millions in losses due to failed missions are the real cost of those rare drops!

Show those DeLacy s who the real shipbuilders are!

Seriously though, I'd say the T9 has maybe sub 5% interdiction failure penalty. Just evade any interdictions you don't want. People only think the T9 can't win NPC interdictions. You will fail so few that if you did fail one, the time you spend jumping away wouldn't be excessive.

It's not just Combat rank that sends those ships after you. Trade rank going up is what's causing them to spawn, and also why you see the higher-profit missions. You can still take lower-profit missions which will only spawn weak ships or no ships. Also, if you're fast, you can sometimes get the mission done before the goons have been sent after you. The mission board doesn't do a great job right now of presenting the user clearly a bunch of stuff of different levels/playstyles. It's not obvious about things with a clear gradient or split like "here's the stuff without enemies", "here's the quick stuff, here's the slow stuff", "now, over here's the stuff with enemies". You just gotta go by payout and the mission details including the threat indicator. Again though, you don't get the enemies every time, but the longer you take, the more likely some faction would put someone on it.

I’ve always liked the idea of playing the game using only In game tools and the knowledge I’ve gained but I find that the games is just to huge. You can limit the knowledge you gain - So when you engineer a ship for fighting don’t just go for the known best of the best, try your own ideas. Ed has a lot to offer and each branch ; Explo, trade, fighting, lore - offers months/years of gameplay to the average 4-5 hours a week gamer.

As an example you can just go explore and perhaps find something new or you can read about all the amazing things to go and see and then plot a route to go visit them - this alone would be a few months of game play.

The re-log game play came be taken too far or simply not used. The two exceptions I have are Davs Hope and Cmdr Jamesons ship. For me they are the only grind in the game, the rest is gameplay. As was said earlier Davs Hope is quite fun doing speed runs, but as for Jamesons crash site I just feel guilt doing it :). A couple of hours at each site and your done for a while. That said good luck with finding what your after in game it’s quite a challenge and rewarding to know you’ve played it as it should be played.
