Chieftain loadout advice?

My weapons loadout is 3 size 1 railguns, with long-range engineering and plasma slug. Size 2: Packhound missile launcher with larger magazine capacity engineering. Size 3: 2x gimballed pulse or beam lasers, usually Efficient-engineered.

I'm using (2) C3 Beams, (1) iE Beam, 2F MC, and (2) 1G MCs. Beams are G5 upgraded Efficient Weapon w/Oversize Exp., and MCs are all G5 Light Weight Mounts with Incendiary Rounds Exp.

I just took out a Threat Level 4 Corvette in less than 3 minutes. I was surprised how well this load out works. I found the Chieftain a bit too "twitchy" to make an effective platform for fixed weapons, so I went with a Gimballed/Turret setup instead.

Much more effective/better suited for the way this ship flies. My ship also has a 31.2Ly jump range with the above loadout thanks to lighter weapon choices and upgrades.

Give it a shot! The ship is so fast, big ships can never hit you. :D

I have 2 focussed PACs for my main damage on the larges, I'll be putting a super pen long range imperial hammer on the medium for module sniping, and the three smalls will really depend on the activity. They will be the build diversifiers if you will. For example, I might put two feedback cascade rails for scb spam and a single super pen to back up the imperial hammer. Or, I might load them up with special effect frag cannons and my all time favourite "utility" weapon - the turreted class one rapid fire scramble spectrum burst laser.

Gimballed S3? On a ship with that turn rate...?

I tried out my build and it was quite good, the imp hammer didn't have super pen yet but certainly for PvE, the loadout's got just about every base covered. I had the hammer and PACs mapped to the primary fire button, spread over two fire groups (can't hit with both often anyway, and if you can, you will set fire to yourself), and the frag cannons in secondary fire mode. The burst laser was left to make up its own mind about who to shoot. I found that I was spewing lots of different kinds of damage, and combined with ramming low hp ships like a champ, I had a pretty good time.

Trying out 3 small rails, medium gimballed efficient beam, and 2 large gimballed OC multicannon.

No conclusion yet, but might work out.

Right now mine is packing:

Two class 5 grade 5 efficient burst lasers with phasing sequence.

One Class 2 grade 5 overcharged multi cannon with corrosive.

Three class 1 grade 5 overcharged multi cannon with multi-servos.

Mine carries 3 small beams (efficient), 1 medium OC MC (oversized), 1 large OC MC (Corrosive ammo), 1 large OC MC (oversized).

Shreds pretty much anything, and if you get 4 pips to weapons can actually fire every weapon without draining the capacitor (as long as you have grade 5 charge enhanced PD).

3 small short-range thermal vent gimballed beams is hilarious good fun. With a G5 charge enhanced PD (and a full WEP charge), you can actually use them to cool off in silent running! You cook hella fast as soon as WEP drops below full, but... still pretty fun.
