Chieftain: Optimized for fixed weapons, no SLF bay (?), why the second seat?

Like the title suggests, the new Chieftain appears highly optimized for fixed-type weapons but apparently has no SLF bay. What reasons would there be for a second seat?

As a side question, a poll if you will: How many of you multi-crew in a Vulture (which also has a second seat)?

There's this forlorn medium hardpoint at the bottom where you can put a turret in for your co-pilot to fool around with.

because he definitely used the small forward mounted belly gun from the pilot seat when they escaped the imperials in the hanger on Hoth.
