Chieftan Range - 30 LY+

I gotta say, after getting a new R5 engineering of the FSD i find that the Chieftain can go a nice 30+ LY which is VERY nice for a combat ship.

It is refreshing for a change.

I got mine up to over 32Ly with my Combat Load out of choice, so I am more than happy.

The Viper IV can get up to 30+ly, too. And it is technically a combat ship.

Mine's about the same, as I built it for combat. I just wanted to show my appreciation for the Chieftain.

I would guess lightweight alloys?

I wonder how much it matters since the canopy goes first anyway.

Purely exploration is around 42.5 Ly

I love the hardpoint placement and the way it moves, but man, that canopy is weak. It's like they forgot a 0 in there somewhere. I lost my shields the other day, one salvo later, I was on life support... As for LY, mine stands at 20+ something, which is quite nice for a combat vessel. I'd rather go with fast charge on these kind of ships though, like I do on my traders.
