General / Off-Topic Child rearing and mentally scarring your own offspring with youtube

You call that mental scarring?
Pfffft!
Make a video of the little Gerg-erg dancing and upload it to Youtube, then show it to everyone at every birthday party ever.
He'll be institutionalised by the time he's 14. Guaranteed.

The Frozen soundtrack has been in my car CD-player for about 4 years. Three months! You know nothing of true suffering. Yet. :)

Was there no method to persuade your youngen's to listen to something more wholesome, like Lawnmower Death?
My ride (car), my music!

Only the missus has an override, switch to radio sometimes.
Oh, on long drives an audiobook is also viable option (usually children's choice :) )

So..... I introduced my two lovely girls to Royal Blood, which has now turned into the most requested CD when we are in the car.

As something in return the oldest introduced me to Disturbed...

The youngest has discovered ELP recently, so I guess I should be satisfied with a job well done!

Holy crap how old are they to be getting into that stuff?

We may not agree in political beliefs or religion, gaming mechanics or even whether milk goes in first or last into a brew...but kids change the goalposts. Even though meself and fuzzy fer example are poles apart, the one thing we do have in common is our kids...sorta. They make us more mature by forcing us to put their needs above our own, and they make us immature when we put them into shopping trolleys and race up and down the aisles of a shopping centre and making race car noises till security throws ye out or the misses threatens to divorce ye if ye dont grow up.

Totally agree man. I'd rep you but I'm used up for you.

Forget all that other crap, this sort of thing is what's really important, and says far more about us than what we think of whatever the ivory towered rulers are screwing up in Westminister. Commitment to the youngen's, and trying to set a good example, is common ground we should all be able to build on.

By the way here is some nice and pleasant ambient.

And something a bit darker.

I really think that Frontier, when they finally get around to introducing possibly getting onto planets with thargoids on them, should use some dark ambient to spookify things.

I wanted to put this on for him, but his mother has ruled it out. And her rulings are sacronsanct in this house.

It was the masks in the Santa Hates You vid. Masks, clown faces, that sort of thing do give people nightmares and scare them. It puts us in the uncanny valley.

Ye the silly forum is telling me I gotta spread the love around a bit more too, but on this point I agree 110%. Its harder fer me to set a good example because Im literally her only example...her mum is no longer with us since she was 6 and I was never really that mature to begin with. That being said, if I didnt have her then chances are I wouldnt be here either...as much as I wanted to hit the self destruct and run away and a lotta men would have in such a situation.

At 14 she has a favourite quote...she says Im a brilliant dad but a terrible role model. Im glad shes not completely like me even if she has inherited my love of gaming and music...and my height and my stunning good looks of course...she has her mums brains though.

Dont need rep fer this job...ye do it because ye have to so there is no half measures...its all or nothing. I genuinely wish all the best fer you and yer own and I mean that...thats totally nothing to do with our own differences or beliefs. I do not say such things lightly.

I could rant on and on about me and my jasmine, but thats just me...I dont get out as much as I used to so you guys get the captive audience thing. Ye thats another positive of having kids...they kill yer social life ^
