The whole world is drowning in smoke. This is global warming and glass house effect.

Yeah... This is the coldest winter in a very long time. Well... the statistic showing continuous rise, and although there are (Time)local differences, but the tendency says its getting hot, and we feel this too.

The 'Great Smog of London' of 1952 killed an estimated 4000 people, with an estimated 100,000 more made seriously ill. It happened over a period of 4 days in a very cold December. Modern research suggests it was more like 12,000 fatalities. One result of which was the 'Clean Air Act' in 1956.

Coal burning was blamed at the time I believe.

And not without reason cold weather so a lot of fires burned + dry and still air+ a lot of smoke. And here comes the catastrophe. Coal is not replaced and forgotten for nothing! And even if there is no lethal smoke because of the weather than it's still a killer. Acidic rain respiratory sicknesses, which is mostly resolved because of the previous abandonment of coal, and environment protective laws.
