Choose just ONE thing in 3.0 you would like improved

I'm not going to make a list as there is no way I could cover everything. Hence no Poll - Sorry.

With that said, out of all the current 'functionality' / 'features' we have in-game, what would you most like to see improved and describe how it would 'work'.

I would like to see the surface scanner improved to show where surface assets (Vents, Brain Trees, Geysers, Alien sites, Crash Sites, Places to Mine (If we ever get those MB4 Mining machines)) are 'roughly' - close enough so that once in the SRV I could locate the asset (Which would mean a tweak to the SRV scanner too!)

That's my one thing!

Why?

Because I want to be able to find those awesome sites out in the black, currently they can only be found by sheer luck, personally I've never found one, not for looking either. Such a waste that these assets were added but impossible to find and wonder at.

What is your ONE thing and Why?

Thanks

Hmm One thing out of the multitude I have hmmmmm.

Well I imagine the Trade - Exploration - Mining will be covered by others so...

In game options to set curves on all axis input in the controls section.

Disclaimer --> I still would like All the other things I have listed in other threads :)

You beat me to it ;). As that one is spoken for, then I'll say Engineers. Let players swap out certain blueprint requirements in return for a bonus-or penalty-to the upgrade roll. Have repeat upgrades of the same ship, by the same engineer, reduce the range of the upgrade roll. Have module quality impact on the range of an upgrade roll. Allow players to use favours to tweak upgrade stats. Let engineers sell 1 or 2 "off the shelf" module upgrades via the outfitting area. Make Engineers more of a roleplaying experience than a mere dice roll.

My one thing would be...

A more varied toolset for exploration that ties in with your SRV scanner request. The main one is in depth scanners that feed data to your ship's computer to extrapolate some rare mat locations. (at least 2-3 guaranteed locations per world, only once per world every couple of weeks.) This would kickstart the search for whatever material you're looking for, while also providing a planet-hopping method for finding mats that isn't necessarily better than blind searching, but more consistent.

EDIT: As mentioned above, if engineers count as a core gameplay element (I think they qualify), that would be my first request. No RNG. I knew plenty people would say that, so I opted for my scanner idea instead. :3

EDIT MK II: Gonna pass out a lot of rep in this thread, I can already tell. :3

Improved War/conflict handling - in the sense that wars between larger factions could be shown as a battlefield on the galaxy map with borders and conflicts. Something that would be handy for the likely coming war with the Thargoids. Systems taken by Thargoids would be lost to mankind until they were eventually reclaimed through tough battles.

Mining!

either:-

a: add planetary mining, so we can head on down to the surface and blast some rocks for some cool sellable ore (which would make it worth me visiting planets again)

b: improve the current mining, give us some engineers for mining so we can have highly optimised mining lasers that extract more ore or a refinery improvement so it creates more tonnage per ore, let us mark which asteroids we've mined out, give us MB4's again, add very rare gems/ores spawn out of the 'bubble' that is worth a fortune, so mining and exploring are more fun. etc

Errm the way the universe actually interacts with the BGS with visual assets.

For example if a rich system has a rise in crime, security forces brings in more frigate class ships and there's an increase in patrols and checks. At the same time pirates would have set up hidden bases that they strike from.

or

After a warzone has ended we see shipyards repairing ships and the like

I know all this is starting to happen, but I'd love it to be able to be done dynamically

Exploration.

We have a game covering 400 billion systems (not sure if this is the correct number, but it is the most widely used) and yet 99.99999% is pretty much empty. While this is likely a very accurate representation the actual galaxy, ED is a game and sometimes you have to throw realism out of the window in favour of game-play.

Push planetary variation more into the absurd - colours, sizes, orbital and rotational speeds, number of moons, terrains etc.

Add mysterious alien ruins to discover and explore. These won't be related to Thargoids or Guardians, and won't form part of a story - they are simply things to discover, have your name against and maybe get a little reward for, and add a little mystery to the galaxy.

Make rings cast shadows on planets!!

Add comets, rogue planets, colliding planets, variable stars, supernovae,

Allow repair of hull and power-plant.

I realise that this is many things, so in the spirit of the OP, I'd prioritise absurdism - make the galaxy a more varied, surprising and fun place to explore.

I'd change the attitude of some people on these forums. The forum vibe is generally still better than almost all community forums I've been a part of, but even so, it contains an unnecessary level of negativity.

I get that some people aren't happy with some elements of the game, but I find it wearing to continually read about how I shouldn't enjoy playing it and how everything's "broken".

Can we please have more SRV's and more things to do on planets. I am baffled by having had an extension called 'Horizons,' that opened up 80% of the planets in game that then gave us more SLF than SRV's and more things to do in space than on planetary surfaces. I do appreciate that season 2 is the groundwork for later stuff so I am not being 'anti FD' in this post, but I am nevertheless stunned by the lack of focus at FD.

Exploration:

More things to discover, such as detail of each planet with the discovery scanner - where minerals are, volcanic activity, geysers

Tie that in with the other key elements of the game - mining especially.
