Proposal Discussion choose nation

Am not sure if it is possible but I would like to when the game releases choose what nation to start with be it federation, alliance or empire.

I don't think that's quite how it will work. As far as I understand everyone starts off neutral with no pre-set allegiance. However if you feel that you want to align with one of the major powers there is nothing stopping you and hopefully your reputation will grow with your chosen faction.

I think I'd like to start off on Earth of the 34th century. Just to see it fade into the distance as I supercruised away from it, possibly forever.

That's if we get rear view cameras, like in the original Elite :D

You will have peace, once arrived, at the Frontier

:D

Allegiance aside, I think you should at least be able to choose your general starting area. Say if I wanted to roleplay an imperial I would very much like to start somewhere in the empire and not having to spend weeks in the federation in order to get a ship good enough to be able to get there. This would also prevent a scenario where the federal parts of space would be overcrowded and the other parts almost empty save for the relatively few people that kickstarted as imperial assassin etc.

Im also for different location start: empire, federation or allegiance.

There should also be lower price for equipment and ships for those who have better status with some faction.

LOL, agreed! And luvly jab to the rear camera issue :) (very much hoping for external views, if for nothing more than for beauty shots)

I guess everyone is different. Personally I love the idea of spending a long time working towards what I want to do. That wouldn't be joining the Empire either - slaver scum. I want to explore. But the last thing I want is to start on the edge of explored space with a ship capable of doing it. I want to trade or mine with the ambition of being an explorer. Maybe try it with a half decent setup then come back and earn enough to try again with top end equipment. The journey is the fun.

You make it sound like I want an easy start. Simply starting in empire or alliance space wouldn't be any less difficult than starting in the federation, and nobody said anything about starting with a capable ship either. Nothing you said basically had anything to do with the post you quoted.
