Well, this is a new one for me.

I was running a couple of missions between Ethgreze and Megrez and as the timer had plenty left I decided to check out a couple of USS.
The first one had a lone sidey (clean) which hailed me and told me to check my transactions, where I found an offer to abort my mission and go and speak to his 'friends'.

Once he'd passed on the message he just headed off into the void.
Anybody else had this?

Yes. The extra credits were't attractive enough so I completed the delivery anyway. I then had to travel about 250ly awat to link up with my father, so haven't gone back yet to check on any consequences.

I thought politics were trivial enough in the 21st century! If 2 cases of beer are a matter national security and the highest moral duty in the 34th then man we are screwed.... Lol

I've had that, too. A Type 9 asked me to do "Whatever I want with the cargo, except delivering it". I landed at the destination, abandonned the Mission, and got a reward for that (From the Type 9's friends). Then I sold the cargo to the black market (For something like 130 CR, giving me a 250 CR fine). I got about the same reward from the mission itself (~ 3000 CR). The main difference is that my reputation increased on one side (Type 9's), and decreased on the other (Initial system). Hardly noticeable at that point, of course; I'm still neutral to both. But I like the idea :)
