Powerplay Choosing a Power to join - please help!

Hi all. I've been playing ED for a few days and beginning to get comfortable with the basic gameplay and systems. I want to try out the powerplay stuff, but still not sure who to pledge to. My plan is to do some bounty hunting until I get enough cash for a decently-outfitted exploration vessel, and then try and find some unexplored systems. Would Duval be the best to pledge to, for the instant 20% bounty claim increase, as well as potential for more if I rank up, or would focusing on ranking up Hudson to rank 2 be better? Both seem to give 40% increase to claiming bounties, if I have read the info correctly, assuming the Duval effects stack.

Any advice would be appreciated!

It is certainly a goal of mine for the future - but I'd like to experience at least a little of the Powerplay system before I do, along with bounty hunting - hence I've narrowed my choice down to two main Powers. I appreciate the advice though!

If you really want to experience Powerplay then you need to do what needs to be done to help your power. In that case who you choose is personal preference. If you do it for bonuses or modules then you're really just grinding for personal gain and your choice is irrelevant. In summary, if you just want the bounty bonus either choice is fine but if you want to experience powerplay go all in.

Thanks. I think I'll go with Hudson in the sort term and rank him up enough to earn more money from bounties and then choose a faction more based on immersion once I'm a bit more established.

Bounties and combat bonds are x4 in Utopia(Pranav Antal Faction), not to mention we regularly post best trade/smuggling opportunities on our reddit. All black markets pay 10% more. We have a better faction weapon, if fixed raw damage is what you want in a weapon, really good at killing small ships if you got the aim. We also fight for expansions like Hudson, so grinding merits is EZ, and you don't have to worry about supporting Space George Bush. Defect now!

Just as a footnote, all bounty hunting powers (Antal, ALD, Hudson) have had their bounty layouts fixed in the most recent server patch. They had a bug that awarded x4 layouts when now they are x2.

And join Antal. Because out of all the Powers, can yours sing?
