Choosing Commander Name

I get to preserve a command name since i donated, but i don't know if i'm playing a female or male, i don't know if i'll be able to create more commanders and have more names or not, etc.

So what do we know?

Your name Commander is unique and you can only use that name. But you can use this name in several different sessions. In Dangerous Elite, there is not the concept of woman or man, because all the commanders are androgynous (just kidding)

I sympathize, as I typically play females if given the option. As has been said, currently the distinction is moot. I picked my old (male) name of Jenner when I pledged back in Feb. I'll just consider it a family name in the game. :p

Once that your commander name has been accepted by Frontier, you can not change it. You can try sending an email to Frontier explaining why you want to change. You will need to have really good reasons ...

Same i prefer play female for some odd reason i seem lucky then. but i made a inquiry on the pledge page and hope the new name be approved and just name all my ships whit several of my female game characters, names i used 20-25 years of gaming.:)

Usagi Scardycat, Blue Moonglow, Hatsune Miku as a few i used last 5 years or so. :D

I hope they change it to my forum name since it can be used on both female and male avatars.

Until this icon is in front of your commander name, you can change it, as many times as you want

Thanks Jenner, My situation is the same as yours, except that the only handle i've got is Rabcor, which is not fitting for a commander name in my opinion. But thanks to your post i figured i'd just find the coolest last name i could remember and there i go, her last name is perfect!

I'll just have to hope it isn't taken or i'll have to find another one.

Btw isn't that the character from Analogue: A Hate Story? great VN that!

ah that was her name, i played the game shortly after release so i forgot :)

And yes indeed, keeping yourself happy one way or another is in my opinion the whole point of living.

Try the sequel that was released a month or so ago: Hate Plus. It's on steam. If you do I recommend you also install the Level Four Revive Material fan mod. A link is on the steam forum for Hate Plus.

Nice! Hekmatyar got approved! awesome! i hope i can become an arms dealer to celebrate :cool: my NPC name Leifur Eiriksson also got approved. I originally intended to do Leifur Heppni, but i wanted to make it more internationally recognisable, and since most americans for example if they know who that is would only know him as Leif The Lucky or Leif Ericson, Leifur Eiriksson seemed to be a better choice. It was tempting to use my own real name as an NPC one, and i'm sure many did. But i thought it'd be better to put something that holds some historical value in instead, without risking breaking of immersion with the name. After all, we want to be able to learn from games by reading between the lines right?

Also how cool would it be to encounter an NPC whose profession is exploration or mapping sectors and his name would be Leifur Eiriksson, the guy who named north america Vinland(Wineland) before Columbus ever got there.

I bought Hate Plus, thanks for pointing it out! it's a matter of time when i'll play it, well obviously when i feel the need to experience an unconventional story.

I usually only consider modding games after i finished them. I burned my ability to finish the storylines in The Elder Scrolls 3-5 because i started modding before i finished doing everything that vanilla offered.

I also am a (biased) purist so i like getting content in its original form or as close to it as possible rather than modified or edited (for example, i never watch movies or tv shows in anything other than its original audio language, this of course includes anime. I played soul calibur 4 and last remnant with japanese voices on and metro 2033 with russian voices. I'll only consider modifications or editing after trying the original)

I have put my real name to be used as an NPC just for the intrigue of finding what career path or missions I will be involved with...

I am hoping to find myself as corrupt politician looking for some muscle to help keep me in power :)

Sorry, yes I am prone to sesquipedalian loquaciousness.

If you chose Gordon Bennett as you NPC name there will be a Gordon Bennett as well as there being some other Gordons and some other Bennetts.
