Newcomer / Intro Choosing sides in a civil war - no prompt?

I went to Ho Hsi just for a chance to get into a civil war and up my cred with the Feds.

I drop into a low conflict zone and see Fed ships shooting at system authority. So I joined in.

Unlike what I have read elsewhere here, I didn't see any kind of prompt to choose a faction. My right hand screen shows my reputation, and system info, but nothing I could see like a prompt. Why didn't I get that? Did I do something wrong?

Surprisingly I don't think I got any bad rep for attacking the locals, as far as I can tell. Maybe because it was an "official" war zone?

I had the same problem I. Durius. No prompt or option to select so I just joined in but it's pointless as there is no money etc. be good to hear if someone has this problem and fixed it. Plus if they do see an option can someone tell us exactly where it appears?

Hi there,

You don't get a "prompt" you have to "pick" a faction.

In the right hand screen I believe reputation is on the first tab, systems second, you need to go to the last tab, that is where you chose your faction, it's at the top if I remember correctly.

Once you have chosen a faction (as posted above) you can earn money.

If you get a mission from the bulletin board first (to fight in the warzone) you can make more.

Once you have a few kills (be careful of your damage taken) hand them in to get paid, then come back, if you get killed before you hand them in you lose them, so don't push your luck too far. I have done it and it hurts to lose a lot of them.

Thank you CMDR.

Someone mentioned in the general forum today that there was a newcomers forum, I hadn't noticed it before.

Rather than go to the general discussion forum and read 10 pages of arguing I thought I would pop in here and see if I could help anyone out, see what was being discussed, I joined 6 months ago and plenty of people helped me out at the start.

I also just realised, frequenting this area of the forum is gonna be better for my blood pressure lol.

Bed time for me, but I think I will be spending a bit more time around here, its a lot more pleasant.
