chosing passenger cabins....

Not sure which to go for. The economy class seem not to get many high-paying missions, the business do and first only seem to do a little better than business (less missions, only pay slightly better). I can get twice as many passengers per cabin for business as I can for first.

So - have I missed something or are First class pretty pointless on the whole unless you have a massive ship and they allow you to fill it by people who won't get into business?

Luxury can only be fitted to the Begula and the Orca.

I have 12 first class on my ASP with engineered 5A shields and 6 business class, 3 in the class 3 slots. The 12 cabins are in the class 6 slot. I'm doing a lot of passenger missions for a faction I'm part of/work for and making good money. The ASP is good for passenger missions due to jump range. I have a class 3A fuel scoop which takes a while to fuel with but you save time by not docking. I see more dodgy/criminal passenger missions wanting first class cabins where I am.

At the moment the best seems to go for first class/business, or just first class.

Passenger transport does not scale up, as there is no bulk passenger transport currently, so hoarding passengers seats on a large ship does not pay off.

You'll be better off with a medium ship taking one, 2 at most missions at a time, and for that having just first class will do.

I dock in one station, and have purchased a range of cabins in various sizes. And so I can quickly swap them for a preferred passenger mission.
This works well for me.

To make economy missions pay, stack and combine them with haulage and sourcing missions. A transport with both cargo space and economy passenger space makes for good profits.

Just wondering: can lower (f.e. economy) class passengers be put in higher (f.e. luxury) class cabins?

Yes..

Yes..

But not the other way around I suppose?

Anyway... it sounds attractive and I think I will have a go at passenger transport.
My Cutter has ample room.

Yeah there is. First class cabins seat less than business, for a given class. So unless you can fill them with first class passengers, you'll make less money.

There's really no reason not to equip the highest class available. They even weigh the same.

Of course there is a reason. The higher the class the fewer PAX you can take. If you are too exclusive you miss out on loads of lucrative missions.
Example: Mission for 8 business PAX can go in a 5D but not a 5C.

Right. First class folks won't sit in lower class cabins. Also, some passengers can;t be divided up between seperate cabins.
