Christmas Idea / Suggestion - FEELS GREAT, YOU COULD TOO

Greetings Commanders,

When I found out about Elite Dangerous in August, I immediately realised I needed to buy a PC so I could do justice to this wonderful game and pew-pew to my heart's content.
So, like some of you reading this, I had another (older) console that's getting increasingly lonely and dusty due to lack of use now that ED is live and kicking.

My Xbox360 could have been sold for, if lucky, half of what I paid for it.
Or, it could be given away to someone who would be much more appreciative of it.
That's what I have just done today and it feels great. And why I'm posting is to suggest that you too could get this nice feeling. Admittedly, you can probably tell this is not wholly altruistic!
It may seem like I'm blowing my own trumpet, but this post is a suggestion to anyone with a console that's not being used much could be reinvigirated in a new, more deserving home.

The best new home I could think of is my local Hospital's Childrens' Ward.
So, I contacted Townsville Hospital Foundation, wrapped up the console, controller and a few sets of batteries, wrapped the 6 games separately (most are rated 15years old+, so I put a note for the ward staff about this!) then bought a laptop/kensington lock because, unfortunately, such items can go missing from a kids' ward (disgusting I know, but c'est la vie).
The volunteers there said thanks, and that the ward staff would choose the most appropriate recipient.
I have just returned from dropping the presents off, imagining how it might make a young cancer patient feel, someone who would have to spend xmas in hospital.
I guess it might make them, for however short or long a time, escape from reality into the world of games. And that's what we all get from our hobby, a wonderous escape into a more fun and interesting realm.

I'm posting here to also thank FDEV, who are directly responsible for this xmas story. Without the release of Elite: Dangerous, I wouldn't have a new PC, so I probably won't have parted with my Xbox360 just yet.
So Frontier Developments: your hard work has made many people happy this xmas, well done and thank-you.
To everyone else, thanks for reading this, and hopefully just one of you has a console that might be better used elsewhere...There's still time!

That's a nice story Cmdr Errant, sounds like you're one of the good ones! I'll pass it on to a few of the guys here at FDEV towers.

You sir are so full of christmas spirit and goodwill.

Very admirable have some rep. And a good idea to boot.

This Commander Errant is an excellent idea mate.
My 360 has done nothing since i bought into the beta of ED.
it will be going to the Princess Alice Hospice who cared for my sister Tina who passed away in june this year from breast cancer, they were absolutely brilliant and deserve everything i can give.

oh and +1 mate.
