Why Captain Von Trapp from 'The Sound of Music' is Christopher Plummer's perfect legacy
We reflect on why Christopher Plummer's 'The Sound of Music' character is a fitting legacy for the actor.
When the Sound of Music first played in Drive-In's ( remember Drive- Ins?) Christopher Plummer proposed to Julie Andrews in a gazebo.

Although I could not know it at the time, somewhere in another car, my future wife was there too. I was 4 and she was 3.
This kept happening. We missed each other in Disneyland, same day when we were 12 and 11. ( Thank Heavens she didn't see me at 12.)
We finally met when she was sixteen going on seventeen, and I was seventeen going on eighteen. Almost as if it were planned.
Unfortunately, no gazebo.

We did see him together in many more movies, eg. as General Chang the villian in the last Original cast Star Trek movie, VI. If you thought Captain von Trapp was overplayed...

Arguably these were his most hated roles.
But amongst his best loved movies.
Plummer was a fine actor and had much better parts over his 91 excellent years. RIP.
