Circumvent Interrupting Route Plans when Targeting Celestial Bodies

I'm just now getting to play so I'm sure plenty of you are doing this already, but I just wanted to throw it out there for those that are still frustrated with it.

1.3 update causes any targeting of celestial bodies to cancel out your GalMap route. I've found that using the nav panel to target the object manually will mark it in the system map. This will prevent the system view targeting from removing your GalMap route.

So, in short form: Use nav panel to target the object, use your key binding for the system map and confirm you've selected what you needed to, hit your system view key binding again and be on your way!

Tha ks for sharing this trick. That process is better than what we had before, but still not as convenient as what I expected when we were told about targeting from the system map.

Yeah. There's really no reason for it to cancel the FSD plots. Horrible oversight. Really doesn't affect much for those of us deeply familiar with exploring already but it's still a bit irking to know a feature isn't working as we'd hoped.

I hope they fix this for us but I am not holding my breath. Michael Brookes has posted on this problem elsewhere. He says that selecting within the system map means you are effectively plotting a new nav route and not just selecting a target. Seems to be hinting it is a design decision.

Then he is no explorer ! He is wrong !

Also selecting planets on the System Map no longer removes your Route Plan (providing they're in the same system you're in) so that 1 Water / Earth Like that's hidden amongst 15 rock planets will be easier to navigate to.

Just remember though, ALWAYS give at least one rock some love with a detailed scan. It's just good karma.

This is good advice as if you scan any HMCs either side of an ELW or other terraformable world, they are potential terraformables themselves, with a 30k ish bonus.
