Civ VI

Well S*IT !

The ONE game that can take me away of E : D has been announced and is due for this year !

just so you know, I'm a HUUUUUGE Civ player, I literally spent MONTHS playing CiV. ( Civ V )

I can't believe that I'll be able to play my 2 favorite games of all time at the same time.

My real life is going to be put on stand by, there is no other way.

( not really ):p

BTW: trade 2 silver for Uranium.
I'll sweeten the deal adding open borders if you add aluminium.

Anyone interested ?

Discuss, any other Civ player here ?

I saw this yesterday... curious as to how it's going to be different. Then there's always the 'Civ needs 2 expansions before it's actually good' problem.

At the risk of being denounced by this thread, I haven't really got round to playing V yet. Not properly with the expansions anyway.

I do like me a bit of Civ but I don't tend to start a game unless I have nowhere to be for a couple of days.

Hmm, not too sure about the graphics, look mobile standard to me.

Still early days and good to see that Sean Bean made it all the way to the end of the trailer.

He'll probably be killed off in the intro-cinematic.

Took me the expansions to warm to Civ V. I played Civ IV until then.

£50 for this game is waaaaaay overpriced. Seriously £50...

I'm still playing Civ IV, despite having Civ V. As JeffRyan says, expansions seem to sort it out for the better.

I didn't get the hype around CivV, and have not many hopes that CivVI will be better. I enjoyed CivIV much more.
Maybe because of nostalgic value I'm coming back to play CivII very often :D
Ultimately you are looking for Endless Legend for proper in-depth 4x game. CivV just looks like casual browser game in comparison :D

Just caught up with this thread.

I accept everything everybody's said about Civ V. I'll still be buying VI the day it's released. :D

I fangirled when I saw this. Im not even a girl, but I still fangirled. Im not sure if I nearly cried but I know I was whimpering oh my goodness for at least half an hour afterwards :D

Christopher Tin coming back to the Civ franchise !

Renowned compositor Christopher Tin, from witch we owe the magnificent BABA YETU song that was introduced in Civ 4 comes back to the Civ franchise with a new song that will be released with Civ 6

The following is a quote of the mail that anyone who subscribed to C.T's website received recently.

"Christopher Tin" <mail@christophertin.com>
"Hi everyone,

I have a big announcement to make! I’ve returned to Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise and have written the theme for the latest installment, Civilization VI. :)

The new song is called "Sogno di Volare", which translates in Italian to “The Dream of Flight”. I took snippets of Leonardo da Vinci’s writings on flight and set them to a new hymn evoking the Age of Exploration.

The game itself will not be released until October 21st this year, but I will be conducting a special sneak preview of the theme live in my concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London on July 19th. We'll also be performing many of my other works including: "Baba Yetu", selections from Calling All Dawns, a suite from my upcoming album about birds, and a rare performance of The Drop That Contained the Sea in its entirety!

This London concert will be very special for me, so if you’re in the London area please come and say hi to me at the meet-and-greet after the concert! But, if you can’t make London, we’ll be doing two smaller shows in York and Harrogate earlier that week (but without the premier of the new Civ VI theme). Ticket info for all three concerts is below."

First look at Egypt, led by Cleopatra.

And what I suspect will be this forums favourite, England, led by Victoria.

And his good friend, America, Led by T. Roosevelt. ( so many new faces, here's hoping that some leaders will remain the same, Alexander, Napoleon, etc... )

What we can learn from the videos, for example, is that unlike in CiV, religion will be implemented in game from the get go, as well as trade routes.

Oh yes, Civilization! The announcement of Civ 6 was indeed great news!

As much as I love Elite: Dangerous - I will have to try hard to reach the numbers of hours I've sunk into this series. Steam tells me that I've spent thousands (literally!) of hours with Civ 5 alone! It is almost embarrassing...

Having said this, I am a little bit surprised in respect to my feelings regarding Civ 6.

When Civ 5 and its features was announced, I couldn't play Civ 4 any more. I couldn't bring myself to even start a new game.
I wanted those hexagonal tiles, I wanted One-Unit-Per-Tile, I wanted the new realistic game graphic.
And when it finally launched, I was one of the (seemingly few) people who loved it right from the beginning, despite of all its admittably existing faults.

Surprisingly, I don't have these feelings when it comes to Civ 6. The graphic changes might be reasonable, but I am still on the fence (especially regarding the leaders). 'City districts' sound interesting gameplay wise, but they will create visually highly fractured and cluttered maps (something that already repulsed me in 'Beyond Earth'). The necessity to build those workers... excuse me... 'builders' again and again dos sound like a micromanaging hell.
Honestly, the announcement of Civ 6 inspired me to start a new game of Civ 5, which rested peacefully on my HD for quite a while now.

Don't get me wrong, there are many new features that look at least interesting. Of course I will get Civ 6 - and I will preorder and I will get the extended edition! I don't fool myself here. ;)

But somehow - and I don't even know exactly why, because everything I mentioned above should really be minor issues - the new iteration leaves me colder than Civ 5 did.

Am I alone with my ambiguousness or can somebody here empathize my feelings?

I can't wait for this game. The more I see of it, the more I get excited about the changes. IGN did some early game play with Firaxis. Worth watching to get a good idea on where the changes are going...just fair warning, the voice of the interviewer from IGN is a bit jarring at first (at least it was for me). Might start with volume down and then turn it up as needed.

Have played all CIV versions since the original. I played CIV 5 exclusively until the Elite beta debuted. I don't expect that I will be done with ED anytime soon.

CIV 6 will wait.

I can't commit to just one game at a time. I burn out too easily so I hop around to make sure that doesn't happen.

I wonder if I could run both at once. Complete a few turns while I finish a long Super Cruise.

Good Lord, I'd go mad if I played any game exclusively for very long.

Elite Dangerous, Stonehearth, TANE, Lord of the Rings Online, Civ 5, Chaos Reborn, Tinykeep all get a go, though some more than others.

No Man's Sky and Civ 6 will have to be squeezed in somehow :)
