Civil War Pending - what I should/shouldn't do

Dear fellow CMDRs,

I and my friend CMDRs have founded a PMF a few weeks ago, and now we're trying to climb up the ladder to gain control of the home system.
As of today, my faction and the controlling faction went into Civil War Pending with both having the same 33.3% system influence.

What should we expect? What should we do/not do before entering a civil war? I've read a few forum posts and fan-made guides but I couldn't find any of them talking about what to do BEFORE the faction actually goes into war/civil war state.
Also I found some said "one can also end a civil war by not fighting at all". I'd like to know how it works.

I hope experienced CMDRs here can help us.

Cheers,

CMDR y-shin

Up until the tick in which the war starts, you can gain influence by all the methods you used to trigger the war in the first place. You need a 3% or more lead by the 3rd tick of the war in order to win. YOu can get this before the war starts. Once the waris active only dropping combat bonds for you faction, or bounties for them will work. To get them you will need to use a kill warrant scanner and be sure not to drop any bounties for the controlling faction (you van trade them in at an interstellar factors instead)

Thank you for the reply! Our group has been completing many missions so far and gained influence by 8.7% lead!
I guess I'll gather more CMDRs for combat since I'm not really into combat.

If you have enough of a gap and nobody working against you then you normally don't need to enter the CZ's at all.

I knew that was an option too, but not sure what condition should the faction meet in order to do so. Thanks for the info!
The only thing I'm worried about is that our faction info on EDSM is not the newest and it doesn't say ours is player faction (but it shows up as NPC faction). We may possibly encounter players fighting for the other faction...

The faction still has a lead by 4.9%, so as long as we keep this we'd win, right?

if you still have time i'd push that percentage up. depending on the population (i can all alone cause a swing of 20 points in a system with 4 million pop if i decide to be extra dedicated one day, and maybe a tad bit murderous).

4.9% is too small a margin to feel safe with in my opinion especially if you don't know if someone is working against you the last thing you want is to feel safe with a slim lead and get pounded one hour before the tick on day 3. you would be left with no recourse.

Yeah, that's almost exactly what I did, except I couldn't have the dedicated one day...
Right now approx 30 hours have passed since our faction entered the civil war and we're seeing a pretty good start (as of now it's 10.4% lead). We'll continue gathering CMDRs to support our faction as well as try several hours of CZ combat.

Nice. When the war starts, it's important to note that just completing missions, even combat ones that seem war related will NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. The only thing that affects the outcome of the war is handing in of combat bonds, whether or not there was a mission behind them (which would be incidental). Good luck!
