Claiming Bounties while Wanted - is it possible?

I'm currently in a system where I have accrued a bounty on my head in that system thanks to the system authority being pretty good at meandering into my line of fire ; )

More to the point, is it possible for me to claim the bounties in that system's area while I'm wanted by them?
For example, boosting straight into the relevant station without getting scanned or using silent running to get in?

I'm not inclined to pay my bounty due to the accidental nature and my in-game persona is equally unlikely to pay off bounties as he's a miser ^.^

Side note:
I toyed with the idea of storing a ship and getting a sidewinder to do the stealth runs so I wouldn't lose my main ship. If you die in a ship can anyone confirm if your stored ships remain intact and recoverable?

Thanks for any clarification anyone can bring to this!

Assuming you can dock the local security office will always pay any bounties regardless of your status. If it's just the local system that doesn't like you, why not just go somewhere else for bounties though?

I'm just testing the boundaries of the game atm ZeeWolf : )

Trying to see how realistic/feasible some things are, for example from a roleplay point of view I could be a wanted criminal that claims seedy bounties in a zone (which would make sense if I can get the payout!)
Additionally, switching ships like I mentioned could be a fun way of also roleplaying and effectively hiding within a system pretending you're doing cloak and dagger switches with ships as if it were a disguise.

It was just a fun thought and curiosity XD

to be fair your asking others to test the boundaries of the game and report back ;) why not just dock and see if they paid out?

Because if someone already knows the answer and can respond I'll learn and any subsequent viewers all learn from it?

Not to mention just maybe I'm currently not able to test out my theory since I won't get to my PC later, it's like you've never posed a question to others that might know the answer >.>

Yes, you can, but you need to dock at a place that has no security. Dont bother with a Coriolis, head for an outpost or station. A coriolis will pop you as soon as you get in range.

You can dock at a station with security easily enough. Fly past the station and line up with the dock access (I usually stand off at 9km or so), Then max thrust and hit silent running (this will avoid the scans), don't forget to request docking once past 7.5km in, disable silent running as soon as you pass the access port. No scans and no problems. Works well for massive cargos of stolen goods too, if the station has no black market, you can get out without scan the same way, and as previous answers have been, yes you can claim bounty even if wanted. sometimes there is no option than to dock at the single station in an independent system to claim single system bounties, so this move is worth a little practice, and the profits made from found cargo at U.S.S. points is well worth it too.

Thanks so much for the input Top Cat, Warlock!

That's something I'm going to give a try tonight I think ^.^

Two things you need to be careful about:

- The Station/Outpost must be owned by the major faction of the System (The one which actually gives bounties)
- Don't get scanned by the cops in front of a station. Ever. The station will kill you. Instantly.

Yep, you can do that. Your stored ships are safe

But be aware that if you die in ANY ship, all accumulated exploration data and bounties credited to you will be wiped. It pays to cash in those bounties (I usually cash in around 200000 credits), and with a kill warrant scanner you get all bounties when you kill a target (federation/alliance/empire/independent). It can add up fast and seriously hurt if you get ripped up by an elite 'conda at a USS...
