Clan controled systems?

ok i been off this game for 3 weeks to come back today. hopped in my trader ship and went off to a station in adeo system as that is where i left it off. then i got attacked my another player. my shields where taken down quickly.
then he said "stop or die", si i did messaged him back saying "i had nothing on me" he then said his clan controls the systems of adeo and ho hisen (im guessing for the trade). is that even alowed on this game? is there a point? dosent solo play also take out from the same resources?

im playing solo now so they carnt touch me.

It's just a harmless RP thing and perfectly legitimate game play. If you want to play along then do so, if not just move to Private group or Solo, no fuss either way.
