Class 4 (huge) vessels as independent playable vessel thread.

Seeing as players have been waiting for class 4 (huge) vessels such as the panther clipper and the Boa for some time, and that its been announced that class 4 ships will be launching along side personal fleet carriers.

Post your suggestions here as to why you think class 4 ships should (or shouldn't) be able to be flown independently of the personal fleet carriers.

That's not large vessels, that is vessels that fly in formation with your carrier and "do things" that nobody-knows-what at this point.

If you want to fly a support ship that does nothing besides follow your carrier around and be unpilotable, I see no problem? You could maybe just move the camera out and pretend you're flying it while you make noises with your mouth. Presto, you're "flying" the miner/combat/exploration ship.

We know way too little at this point how both carriers and support ships work exactly.

But no, I don't want these support ships to be the Panther Clipper/Boa. I want actual Panther Clipper fitting on a large pad....barely. And through the mailslot....barely.
You know they could have different types of Panther clipper/Boa.

You are correct they aren't large vessels because obsidian ant said they were huge vessels which is a new vessel tier we have been waiting for.
Anaconda/corvette/cutter are large (class 3), not huge (class 4)

I hope so. With all the discussion about class 4 ships getting a new docking mechanisim it would be unfortunate if this ends up being the only way frontier decides to impliment them.
Don't get me wrong I absolutely like the idea of an automated fleet.
But id also like to pilot a class 4 ship too.

Source? A narwhal is only 17 ft which is much smaller than a beluga. It would seem unlikely that frontier would name a capital ship a narwhal

Just as large ships cannot access outposts, Huge ships wouldnt access starports. They would instead be limited to dry docks for capital ships. There are a few types of these in the game already and some look very cool. This would mean they would have a lot longer to travel before being able to dock as a major balance pass.
I think that they should require 1 additional crew just to operate, 2 if you want a pilot, 3 if you want 2 pilots, and multicrew if you want a third or fourth or fifth. It should be able to support a full wing of multicrew seats, with full freedom of fighters or choice of weapon assignments to multiple members. It should be basically the flagship of multicrew. Multicrew needed a ship like this from inception to really make it an exciting thing because wings are still more useful.

Now, if class 4 ships were a thing, and they could DOCK to carriers? And you could fly a carrier near a station to access station services? That would be nice.

Just sitting near, maybe 5k off a station, with small drones ferrying station services to your carrier.
