Engineers Clean Drives vs Dirty Drives

Agreed I think fixed long ranged fixed beams on nimble ships will be a whole new way to do combat, but outside of that situation i'm not sure long ranged will be used - glad to hear MC turrets stop firing after 2km but they don't have anyway near the drop-off that lasers have anyway which makes the whole thing strange :p

I guess it might be a measure to conserve ammo for turreted kinetic weapons. But yeah outside of a few match ups I don't see it being a huge meta. Though sniper FDLs with c4 long range beams and weapon focused PDs seem like they could be a thing against larger ships with out dirty drives.

Either way there is a lot more to pvp now which could make it slightly more fun or horribly break it. I didn't get in enough pvp during the beta though get a good grasp on all the new special weapon mods impact.

One thing i ponder: if i read the stats correctly, then a small ship like the iCourier, when being slightly over the optimum mass, might actually profit more from clean than from dirty drive tuning in tems of agility. Do i see that correctly, or does the slightly higher general bonus count for more?

The slightly higher boost in optimal weight will be a pretty huge deal for hotrod Couriers running the new Enhanced Drives and building to scrap.

Hmm. So i guess you propagate dirty drive tunning on the iCourier?

Dirty drives > clean drives in every ship as far as speed and agility goes. The big reason for clean drives is cooler boosts.

Class 3 dirty drives give roughly the same performance as class 5 clean drives but are going to produce more heat.

question is, whats the diference between OPTIMAL MASS , and OPTIMAL MULTIPLIER....

also the diference of 10% on a 460/600 ship is big!

That I don't know off the top of my head but out of the 4 ships I tried both on(Federal Eagle, Vulture, Anaconda, and Corvette) cleans always were kind of meh while dirty drives were a drastic change.
