Come back to Elite later in the day, forgetting about your cargo and go to a federal station with lots of Vipers flyings around.

I know that feeling!

Today I went bounty hunting, got a lovely 1200cr in bounty vouchers - went back to the station to cash in - game crashed.

Reloaded, found myself just outside the station with a Wanted status. My poor Viper didn't know what hit it lol.

Never been in that situation (police scanning and finding stolen equipment), do they give you any warning/ultimatum? Or is it a case of, you got stolen goods, they open fire?

It's a case of "you did the deed, you do the time" (short)!

E.g. you get the warning as they open fire.
