Newcomer / Intro Client update

With 1.1 out (or is it still just in Beta..) my client needs to update. But I would just like to confirm how that works. When i get the message that my client is out of date, it requests to download a new installer file. So does that mean every update, instead of just updating within the client, we need to uninstall our current client, and install the new one via the download? And will this process change in the future? (Not that I'm mad about the extra work to update it, but just making sure i'm not doing anything wrong ;) )

Download the new launcher file and just let it overwrite the old launcher. Any shortcuts should still work as they did before.
This process is only for launcher updates and maybe FD will automate that in the future, game updates are done through the launcher.

Yeah kind of defeats the purpose of having a launcher if it doesn't update its self now doesn't it...
You got it right for now, download via browser and then download from file, not from launcher, then launcher will patch your games.

Just got back from a Trip, and did this, sadly the new launcher shows Not installed and is downloading at 0.02, just how big was the update this time apart from the new launcher ?
