Clipper to Python?

I've been looking at the next move up and was looking at the Python. But, is it worth it?

My my total assets are 59M Cr and the Python is 56M Cr. so I can just barely get it.

But, is it a good bird? For those that made the move up, please give me a PIREP.

Don't buy it til you have the cash on hand to insure it and upgrade some of its modules. It's a fantastic ship, though. Does very well at both combat and commerce.

It's an amazing ship, but you're going to need at least 75-80 mil so you can upgrade it. A-spec will set you back nearly 170 mil.

Have at least 85M ready to shell out for the Python or you may be bitterly disappointed. I got mine at 90M and she's... something else. I was sitting on the landing pad, giggling like a little child for ten minutes after I took her for a drive.

I went from a Clipper to the Python, and love it. It takes some time and money to get it dialed in right, but once you get her kitted out, you're a beast.

I sold my Clipper to get it, but once I had the Python mostly upgraded, I went out and worked on a recent CG to get the discount on the Clipper and bought another one. They're easily my two favorite ships so far.

The Python is very very very good. If I could have only one ship, this would be it. It is the ultimate multipurpose "go anywhere, do anything" ship.

You should save up a little more though, I would not recommend getting one before you have at least 70 mils. That will get you a bare bones trader outfit with A grade FSD. Then you can trade your way up to a combat fitting. Ah, and unlike the Clipper it can land on outposts, which gives much more options for a good route.

Sooooooo many threads about the Python.

I made the same jump from Clipper to Python and it was very, very much worth it I think.
But I strongly advise you not to get it if you are not able to afford some basic module upgrades and of course insurance!!!!!!!!
You probably also need money to pay for commodities, if you want to trade.

I bought my Python when I had approximately 90 mil.
I used it as a lightly armed trader first.
After a few trade runs I upgraded it's defensive and offensive capabilities.
I still fly with downgraded shields and a downgraded power plant, but my Python is now strong enough to hunt big prey with it's three C3 beamlasers. The biggest power plant that will fit will set you back almost as much as the basic Python itself. I currently use a 6A power plant which is sufficient for now.

I love the fact that the Python can dock at outposts and it is much less dangerous to do combat with a Python in asteroid fields than with the Clipper.

You are correct, there are a lot of posts regarding the Python. However, I'm not sure of the day it was nerfed versus the dates of the posts. So since the nerfing, is it still worth it?

Yes, I bought a Python after the nerfing. It is my favorite ship.

Get the python as soon as you have enough for insurance plus a few million left over, then spend the next few weeks trading, fighting trying to upgrade said python, if you go straight into a 90mil python your missing out half the fun, for me the python is the best ship in the game, the only ship ive went into an strong signal source to find 3 anacondas waiting for me, 10 mins later I walk out with bounties of 650k and a whole lotta fun was had. I went from python, t9 then anaconda

In terms of effectiveness, the Python is the superior ship in every area apart from exploring. However, you only start to realise it's true power after spending 90mil+ (inc ship) on it.

The Clipper can be maxed out for less, and is still an absolute blast to fly. If you enjoy trading, get the Python and grind until you can afford the best modules. Otherwise, keep the Clipper and enjoy it until you have 90-100mil or so then upgrade to Python.

Hi I have just upgraded from an asp to the beast I had 100 mil and have upgraded most of the modules on the beast I took it out for the first time today and made my first run of 262 units of cargo and made 347,500 profit , I have been trying to get this ship for months and it here yippee

What's the hard point convergence like on the python? I have 60 million at the moment flying a clipper and I do love the clipper but using gimbals annoys me.
