Clipper vs. Dropship, stock loadout & same combat experience

Let's say 2 players were in combat, one in a Clipper and the other in a Dropship, stock loadouts.

  • Federal Dropship, stock loadout, elite rank and same combat experience

Not going to bother voting, nobody flies stock fitted ships.
That said, Dropship simply because the clipper is bugged, does not exert mass disruption and is held down even by sidewinders.

The parameter is 'stock' - 2x C2 Pulse Lasers.

Eww stock weapons too, I thought you just meant stock components.

The clipper is faster and more agile but can't jump away or stop people from jumping. If it was a forced fight to the death, clipper wins if not, dropship jumps out.

I've tried both, I'd take the stock Clipper any day.

When I tried the dropship, I felt like a sitting duck. It was slow to turn and slow to run, It has great weapon placement for fixed weapons, but because it's such a clumsy ship even with better drive, the fixed weapons are out of the question. Also when using gimballed weapons, hitting with all of them simultaneously is likely not going to happen (because of the weapon placements).
It's quite massive ship even if it's small enough to land on medium pads. The mass means inertia, that combined with weak directional thrusters, makes it difficult to fly. Especially when entering a station.

The dropship needs some love from dev team before it's actually usable.

Dropship has the turn rate of a Type-9. Clipper would easily win in a 1 on 1 with two equally skilled cmdr's. The drop is good for one thing tho, target practice for noobs.

Lets be honest, there are no elite pilots ever riding clippers or dropships. They are both far overpriced and underpowered. It is like asking which world class cook would win at serving sand. Nobody wins...its stupid to begin with. Nobody drives that crap.

Except, you know, traders?
Clippers not half bad at combat either, considering AI just about never use chaff and it can outrun anything lethal, players even. It's just bugged with no mass at the moment.
