Clippers are tougher than I remember! GG!

I went on a little hunt last night in my Vulture for old time-s sake, as I hadn't been PvP Bounty Hunting for a couple of months and I was itching for a greater challenge than the usual Res Site escapades.

I decided to trawl some of the contested systems for my faction as that seemed to be the place I would often see enemy ships the most with PP going on.
After travelling to a few different undremined systems (still seems quite hard to find actual players), I finally had a hostile CMDR pop up on my radar. Woohoo!

Ok, so he's in a Clipper. I decided to keep in mind some stuff I'd heard recently that turrets are now much more affective in aiming, but can be vaguely countered by chaff. I'd never needed chaff on my Vulture before, so I'd had the forethought to add some before leaving.

And he's in a wing of 2. So I figured that his buddy would most likely be in something like a Cobra or Viper or similar. (My first mistake!)
There's also no other CMDRs around on the radar, so his buddy was probably in some other system or docked. (My second mistake!)

Feeling a little over-confident in my ability (from pre-1.3 fights), I locked myself in behind the chap and quickly fired the interdictor up. The minigame was tough, but with the sudden rise in recent interdictions from NPCs, I'd actually managed to get a fair bit of practice in. Yay!

The ships dropped out of super cruise and while the stars span wildly as my ship attempted to rectify itself, I sent the customary chat message informing the CMDR that his evil deeds would not go unpunished and he was wanted for war-crimes in this sector... or something like that anyway. Spelling at speed is not my strongest skill, so it may have come out as something along the lines of : "BLEuruughhhddjisdf ikfdn DIE FOO!!"
Or maybe not... I forget.

Anyway, we both got down to business. (No innuendo intended)
Knowing that the guy could outrun me at a moment's notice, I figured I'd have to get this done quickly and promptly. And there was no running for me either. I wouldn't get a hundred kilometers from him in this ship. So it was do or die from the start.
No restarts included!

It's funny, I really remember Clipper shields being a lot easier to get down than this. I piled my C3 lasers into him while going through my Chaff at an alarming rate to try and keep out of his.
My god it was a tough fight, but in fairness he was gaining the edge on me. I probably wasn't going to win this fight.
Then the proverbial hit the other proverbial.
His buddy arrived.
I wasn't ready.

His buddy was in a freakin' Clipper too.
My God I wasn't ready!

As I fell into line for another face-on joust against my current target, the second Clipper lined up on my rear-end (Innuendo REALLY not intended) and I heard that dreaded sound of a Plasma Accelerator firing up.
Ah pants! I am so going down right now!
I swung the stick over and saw the flash as the bolt flew past me...
... and into the face of the oncoming Clipper!
Wait, what?
His shields blew out and his hull started to buckle.

Meh! YOLO, dangit!
Full Boosters. I still have a shield ring left and 3 shield boosters propping it up.
Ramming speed!

The Clipper took a massive hit and my own shields went down as well, giving my hull a good kick in the groin.
But the momentum took me past the wounded Clipper and onto the opposite side of him to his mate. I now had my very own personal Meat-Shield (if you will).
I emptied my lasers into his hull from right there, like an angry bee that slipped down a poor bloke's trouser leg.
The metal hulls shrieked as he tried to turn to face me until I saw that blessed "0%" appear on the screen and my foe vapourised in a screaming mass of metal and fire.

My canopy was out and the 5-minute life timer was bleeping at me horribly as I brought about to face the other Clipper.
He'd stopped firing for a moment.
Maybe it was surprise. Maybe he just couldn't shoot for laughing. I dunno.
I admit, it was pretty funny... :p

Whelp!
No chance to run.
No chance to beat him in a fight.
Heh. Ok.

"GG" I typed on the screen chat system.
Then I boosted again.

...

I like to imagine there was at least some sort of little "pop!" as I bounced off his shield and he shrugged me off into oblivion.
Maybe there was.
Maybe he was left wondering "WT* just happened?"
Heh! I hope so! :)

It was an amazing battle with the most comical "Reinforcement" arrival ever.
If I ever see them again, I hope I will be able to share stories about "that day" over a strong Lavian Brandy... :D

You should have submitted this to the Elite Fiction section, or whatever it's called. I don't doubt it happened, but I like the narrative and general prose style :)
I'm impressed you did that in a vulture though. I have seen it slipping out of fashion a bit lately in pvp. Seeing a lot of Couriers, FDL's, Clippers, Pythons, and a return to the viper, but not many vultures.

This is probably due to me not having played for 2 months - back then, the Vulture was the "go-to" combat ship.
I'm getting the impression that it really isn't any more! Lol!

Edit: Also, I'll admit prhaps a couple of the minor parts may have been embellished for dramatic effect (in true "Sit down and let me tell yer a tale.." style! :D )

Great story! I'll admit to having some awfully close almost-accidents while playing Plasma Accelerator snooker.
