close calls

So I traded my eagles shields for a fuel scoop (don’t want to freeze to death in space again and every now and again those two tonnes of storeage make a nice profit) and was happily exploring the verse when an NPC pulled me out of SC and rather quickly pummeled the hell out of my unshielded hull.

With a mix of horizontal thrust, vertical thrust, barrel rolling and a little bit of bad language I managed to get the FSD charged up and jump away with 3% hull, I found myself getting interdicted again very quickly (pretty sure it was the same bandit) but this time I managed to keep in SC (just) and went vertical in SC hoping to avoid any more traffic that might take an interest in my ship.

Eventually I pulled up at the dock to land in a very slow efficient manner (no charging in through the port with the gear up for a hi speed flashy landing this time). collected my 4000+ creds of map data and let out a sigh of relief.

Yup i've been there the freagle is a little fragile.
Oh did you know you could give up the 2 cargo for a basic e class scoop and still keep the shields?
Unless you need 2 cargo

Every now and then i run into a 2 cargo mission worth around 10,000 creds so i dont want to give up the space.

I would be mining but to be honest it’s a little too frustrating to be a miner, when it gets a little less tedious, marking roids, automatically dropping ore you don’t want to process and confirming if you really want to dump that bin of platinum that’s 96% full and not the unprocessed 3% bauxite I will start mining again.

Right now i am enjoying exploring the galaxy.

Don't forget the unidentified signal sources also, even a little cargo space can be worth a helluva lot when they cough up those artifacts.

For me I'd probably stick with the shields as killing pirates can also be pretty lucrative, though you could also make the argument that you shouldn't really need the shields so early vs them anyway...

Every single UISS i look at turns out to be an NPC.... I keep running in to the mining magpie

Yep there is a lot of randomness in the game for sure. I've only seen the artifacts once - the very next system I visited after I sold my cargo space. Just got me thinking about it lol.
