I haven't been playing Elite a lot recently, got a bit bored but I pop back every week or so to check the improvements.
You will all know when you first started playing it was a nightmare remembering all the key bindings etc. Well after playing solid for a month or so I knew where every binding was without thinking, using a HOTAS I could get 'most' stuff on the sticks.

Well 2 days ago I decided to have a blast after a week or so off. I was just trading, found a nice route which made me 1000-1200 CR profit on gold, I had a full cargo hold full in my cobra and was just getting ready to drop out of SC at my home station.
Ah, it's good to be back at the helm again, seat seems a bit firmer than I remember on my last trading jonts, hmm...something is rattling in the hold, must have a look at that when I dock, probably need to do a bit of maintenance. Oh, here we go, Thompson Terminal approaching fast!

Just wind the throttle back a bit, there we are, on target, should make a nice profit from this gold, enough to get that Type 6 I saw in the Shipyard last month.......OH DAMMIT! WHATS THAT ALARM?

WHAT THE ECK! ... INDERDICTION! ...Not seen many of these recently, maybe things have changed a bit in this sector since I have been away, is it a coincidence that I have a full hold of Gold? ....Right, no worries, I will kick his noob pirate Eagle ass, that will teach him!

Ok, throttle to mid position, let him take me out of SC.......... here we go......... we're out......don't see him yet on RADAR........ Pips balanced until we see what we are up against, throttle to max, boost away, lets make some distance before I bring her around and tear him apart!.....Okay, there he is...just target him...have a looksee.....yup.. competent Dropship...strong...hmm.... should be able to take him apart no problems...just pull the trigger to deploy my hardpoints....secondary hardpoints deployed ....ok...so I will just Kill Warrant Scan him first to get every last drop of bounty from him.... okay he's within range of KWS, scanning in progress........ come on...... nearly there, am taking hits, shields holding, just wiggle about a bit, throw his aim off until I can get this KWS scan complete...COME ON!...yup thats its scan complete, lets just switch to guns and start dismembering him.........errr.........ummm..... "Cargo Scoop deployed" .....oops, its one of these buttons........."Landing Gear Deployed".... nope maybe this one..."Cargo Scoop Retracted"....this isn't funny anymore, taking hits again, shield coming down, just throw him off for a few more seconds...."Landing Gear retracted"........."Hardpoints retracted"......Oh come on!! I don't believe this! Full hold of gold! I'll just boost away for a minute to get some distance...."Hardpoints deployed" .. where the heck is that button for next fire group........right, I give up I'm not going to lose this cargo, lets get out of here! ....."Frameshift Drive Not engaged"....what! shields down...taking some hull damage......oh yes, here we go..."........."Hardpoints retracted"......"Frameshift drive Charging"....great, phew! that was close, too close!... ah thats it Thompson in range, safe at last, I must keep the Cobra Manual in the glove box, its not doing much good on the coffee table back in Thompson!

Well, I did have a bit of a panic on that day, my Next Fire group was bound to 'N' didnt think to try the keyboard, I could have sworn in was on the HOTAS.
I quite enjoyed my return to Elite this week, I also found my first Conflict Zone which has popped up in neighbouring system so i have been kicking butt on the Battlefield the past few nights.
