Closed Community for dedicated members.

I don't know if I am allowed to post this here, in any case, if not allowed, please delete it.

It just came to mind to create a web site exclusively for dedicated members of the community. It would all be about Planet Coaster, to share screenshots, bugs, experiences, diaries, youtube let's plays, guides, tutorials, etc. The idea is to have quality content over quantity.

The site would be closed to the public and only selected members would be allowed. The requisites will be posted later.

By vote, we will select admins and moderators. At least three administrators and 5 moderators.

If I get positive feedback on this, I will proceed and setup the website. If not, that's ok too. The website should be ready by or before the alpha releases.

EDIT: After reading your feedback, we have concluded that there is no need for another community, and... that elitism is bad, very bad... lol. Fun reading your responses.

I think this is a really good idea. You will be able to get the best feedback and videos from the fans who really care about this game.

On my website velocityforums.com we have a Planet Coaster section. But we aren't too popular yet. If you don't wanna check it out. I would love to help out with yours!

Go with XenForo and have a blast. It's hands down the best forum software I've ever used.

I might apply for a membership at the forum. But who decides who's given access? What's the benefit of being part of the "secret planet coaster" forum?

Worst case though, this might create a split between the ones who get in va the ones who's rejected.

I think Everyone gets interesting in that idea. But I thinks it's the best to be here close to the developers. Hope they build in more feature for head club members

Isn't the Coaster Head Club a closed community for dedicated fans? As Palaber1984 said, it is surely best to be close to the developers?

I think this forum is perfect, furthermore we can identify Devs easily, allowing us to know what information are more credible than others.

and YehtiBox you are sure putting a lot of effort and money into pushing your youtube channel and website. I hope you keep to your end of the deal.

I don't see the point of creating a "private forum" for the "dedicated members" to post "lets plays, guide & tutorials"?
Surely if a player is dedicated to a game enough they won't be watching a "lets play", they would be playing it them selves.
And as for the guides and tutorials, surely the guide and tutorials would be for the less dedicated members who need help?
Sounds kind of pointless.

In principle, it sounds like a great idea. If someone wants to start their own forum for this purpose, that's great. However, I absolutely don't think it should be something officially sanctioned by Planet Coaster.

It will only foster an elitist culture and will exclude and intimidate others. Now I'm all for showcasing quality, but a creative forum benefits all when people of different abilities and experience are together. The more experienced players will inspire the less skilled and anyone, whatever their ability, can offer ideas and suggestions. Also, if you're all producing great creations, it'd be such a shame if a wider group of varying ability don't get to see them.

Some of the most mind-blowing creations I see are on Shyguy's World and the No Limits Exchange. Anyone can post there. As for highlighting the best work, it will happen anyway. The best players will earn a reputation and a following amongst members and as I've said, will encourage the less skilled to learn and improve. Everyone wins.
Also, sometimes when you have a site where only certain people are welcome, it can quickly stagnate. This is because the members feed off each others' work and there gets to be a culture of how things "should" be done. Now if there's a smaller group of members, this happens quicker.
Also, even the top players can learn something from the least inexperienced players. They come in with fresh eyes and can sometimes see solutions or have ideas that the most skilled player would never have thought of.
I think this more nuanced atmosphere will, in the long term, create a richer forum producing higher quality work.

Not really sure about this. The CHC on here is great though!

I'm sticking to official forums, it can't get much better than that in my view.

Having a public forum, a private forum and a CHC forum would be too much. The CHC one is private enough and the prerequisite is that you pay to access it, so in that sense, it's exclusive to dedicated fans.

I dont see the purpose of having another forum other than Coaster Head. Isnt that what you described, except you join by paying rather than being voted in (or whatever). Dont see the necessity of it, especially as sounds very elitist.

Definitely a NO NO from Granddad! [down] [down] [down]

I don't think many on here would want this either.

Why not someone just setup a Discord server? But besides that, not to many people visit these forums, so what's the problem with just keeping this? [yesnod]
