Closed: Ship damage model - Room for improvement?

Edit: Sorry, just found an earlier post from another CMDR using the same vid https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=123371

Just saw this posted by a gaming page showing some of the damage mechanic in Star Citizen. I have to say that the level of detail is very impressive and took me back a bit. I couldn't help but wonder and hope that some more in-depth and visible damage will be used in Elite at some point in the future.

I know there is already a slight wear and tear mechanic on the paintwork, although even after actively avoiding repairing it in the hopes of having a more "worn in" looking ship, I couldn't see much of a difference between the states, despite there being long periods of SC and multiple interdiction and subsequent dogfights/evasions.

Obviously the damage would be lessened dramatically with sufficient shielding, but my unshielded Adder was barely scratched.

The depth of the damage in the video below show actual prices of the ship flying off after a lo of fire, affecting maneuvering, etc. See for yourself and discuss.
