Closing and rebuilding your franchise zoo after earning enough money

Anyone tried this? I have about 3 million and over 40k CC in my current franchise zoo. I've put hours upon hours in this zoo and I don't want to completely close it and open another one, but I would like to change/rebuild certain things (like the entrance and changing some habitats, etc).

The reason I don't want to open another zoo is because what I have right now is pretty much sandbox mode, but with a bit of challenge (I wish the actual sandbox mode would have an option where you can set the amount of money and CC you can start with). I've got everything researched, my staff is fully trained and I've got loads of money and CC.

this is what I did when I started my franchise, I just closed it and rebuilt from the ground up after I made enough money to begin

I only did it at like $200,000 but I didn't built it entirely, I just deleted the starter zoo and began on my Offical Zoo (tm). it's very doable, just don't leave your game running unpaused while you work and you won't much money

the issue is where you put all your animals, because for some reason there's a limit on how many you can put in the trading center. I had to make them all Super Upset by storing them halfway across the map in boxes while I worked

Thank you for the tips!

I don't plan on completely renovating everything, I would just like to make some of my habitats more natural looking with null fences and a bit more rock work, fix some of the paths and move some of my staff buildings. I hope my animals won't be a problem, my zoo isn't that big at the moment (9 habitat species so far) and I have so far managed to control the population of my animals.

@xesta, there's actually no limit if you store them by selecting the animal and then clicking the send to trade center button on the animal's info card. It only limits you if you try to send them from the zoo-animal menu. It's more tedious doing it one at a time by selecting the animal, but it lets you keep sending 'em that way at least. What I do is from the zoo animal screen, I click the locator icon which selects the animal, and then I can send it from there.

I did this when I had $500,000 saved. After I redid the zoo I went through about a 20 year span of losing money. I wasn't sure if it was due to the zoo being more spread out and therefore requiring more staff, guest buildings, and utilities, or possibly because the guests had to walk farther which lowered their happiness? Coincidentally at the same time I finished redoing the zoo a patch came out that many people complained wrecked their finances, so it may have been due to the patch.

Anyway when I got done redoing my zoo I had nearly $200,000 remaining and I'm so glad I left myself some cushion. At one point I lost so much money I only had $43,000! It rebounded after that, though.

Point is my advice is to leave extra money in the bank. A zoo functions really well when it's set up to be bare bones and economical. When it's the extravagant zoo of your dreams there may be a lot more running costs that you don't anticipate, or other hangups with the layout that you don't discover until you've spent a week building IRL and you press play.

Everybody does that. Close zoo, all animals in storage and bulldoze. Let there be flowers!
I had almost 300 animals in storage. I don't think there is a limit to that.

30 is still technically the limit, because you cannot make any purchases once you have more than 30 in there. Just something to keep in mind; don't overfill it if you intend to be able to buy any critters from the market.
