CMDR Helmut Lennenkampf: "To infinity and beyond!"

Greeting Commanders!
CMDR Helmut Lennenkampf here. After 200 hours of game I've finally bought and outfitted an Asp Explorer for exploration purpose. Maybe tomorrow I'll start my long voyage around the galaxy. My plan is to start from SOL and circumnavigate the galaxy with a spiral path, until I'll reach Sagittarius A. My trip will last many months and I'd like to share what I'll see with you. Every week I'll update this post with news and photos, hope that you will enjoy my travel journal.
Before start the trip let me show you some info:

First update of my exploration trip:

Very well, this is my first mission update with some screenshot. I started my personal trip around the galaxy two days ago. I started from SOL and I reached VY Canis Majoris:

After the visit at this star, one of the largest red hypergiant that we know, I jumped to Running Man Nebula and to Horsehead Nebula:

I tried to go to Crab Nebula Pulsar but, due to a low stars density, I change my objective (at the moment) and now I'm going to Mu Cephei. Before reach this big star I scanned some system and I found a black hole near a blue-white star:

Then, I decided to do a pit stop in MAIA system, on the Obsidian Orbital spaceport. Here I sold my astronomical informations and I achieved the next explorer rank:

See you at the next update! :D

I'm arrived to Sagittarius A*!!!

Have a nice journey!
If you want some advice: ditch the 64 ton fuel tank. You will so much love the higher jumprange after the first 5000 lightyears. 32 tons of fuel is more than enough.

May I be the first to wish you a good journey with minimal damage and many "ooh-look-a-shiny"-moments! May your road be filled with OBAFGKM-stars and stunning nebulae.
I think I can follow your reasoning behind your outfit, heres my chain of thoughts: ooh, plenty of fuel which will lessen his jump range; well he stated that he'll travel along an arm so he will have plenty of stars within range to scoop from. He might want to have the scoop turned off and do economical routes and see many overlooked systems, and once in awhile take a breather and scoop somewhat 90 tonnes in one go.

Some might argue with you about the "reduced" jump range of your ship, but I say let there be endless ways to explore, endless configurations, endless goals and billions of systems to take each and every unique ship, jump style, exploration mode, mindset and playstyle out to. I applaud you for setting a goal and I will root for you on your trip into the Black.

TL : DR - have a great trip; call me for a chat.

also, having plenty of fuel capacity doesnt mean to have to refuel 100%, you have more options that those limited by a small fuel tank.

enjoy your trip!!!

I'd probably agree for an Asp. Loving having 96t on the Annie though. Can travel almost 500LY without a refuel. :D

The Problem with a big fuel tank is, that your nav computer calculates the blue lines and the route in the galaxy map with a full tank. So even if you don't top up your tank your computer will still calculate as if.
And in regions with a sparser density of stars this tiny blue lines a very helpful for navigation.

My thoughts...

Can I second this! If you are going anywhere near the space between galactic arms do NOT have a second fuel tank. You will end up opening the airlock and stepping out.
