Regarding the CMDR history tab and it's current use to circumvent established game mechanics
When viewing the history tab you can see every single CMDR currently in your instance (they are highlighted in the history tab with "now" as their datestamp)
this is worse than using bandwith as you can identify the actual player in your instance even from 200km away, in ship or srv.
this completely negates the need to scan ships in supercruise or in instance to identify them as you can simply look at the contacts panel -> see "federal corvette" and look at the Holo-me portrait -> go to history tab and match up the CMDR in the history tab by linking the Holo-ME to the name
Examples:
I and others have used this in 2 different scenarios to circumvent the intended scanning mechanic, to identify whether Murder Hobo's are in the instance with you, or when murder hobo'ing myself we used it to identify if there were any srv's hiding a few kilometers out to go and pick off.... additionally we checked it from time to time to see if there were any CMDR's approaching and dropping into the instance as you can see them in the history tab while they are still in glide... and gank them as they arrive.
This oversight greatly cheapens the experience and removes any stealthy gameplay possible, for both the aggressor and otherwise.. in the past when approaching a planet side hotspot I would park my ship out of sensor range, deploy srv, and sneak up to the POI with my headlights off.... 9/10 times hostile players didn't find me... and couldn't identify me by name (unless they landed and deployed their srv and were in sensor range)
The history tab should be exactly that "history" the CMDR should only appear in that tab after the present encounter is over and they are relegated to "history"
My personal fix would be to simply flag the people with "now" as a hidden entity in the History tab, and only flag as visible when they no longer have the "now" flag
Or just don't have them appear in the history tab until you have interacted with them by means of chat/scan/combat
