CMDR X Makes me Happy but my Cobra MKIII Sad.

Hello CMDR's

While minding my own business sitting in my comfy pilots chair on my cosy Cobra MkIII with the mirrored armour upgrade and while calmly trading between Ibootis & Aulin, I was just about to hit the Frameshift drive to hyperjump from Ibootis when he came out of know where with two shots to my Cobra MKIII's rear end and the inevitable cries of "Eject Eject"!! and then the explosion as my beautiful Cobra MKIII shattered in to a thousand pieces that now float through dark space as a memory of my once calm and peaceful trading existence in Elite Dangerous.

The reason I would like to thank CMDR X is that he has shown me just how great but how fragile the Cobra MKIII can be, while a good all round fighting & trading ship it can be, it also has it's flaws and it's backend is one of them, a two shot kill from behind without the pilot even knowing what was about to hit him and his clean licence and even with full shields up.

I love the Cobra and like I say, It's a nice all rounder and when kitted out can be a great dog fighting craft, maybe if CMDR X and I run in to each other again in the future he wouldn't be so shy as to say "Hi", first, and at least have a face to face dog fight rather than finishing of a lovely Cobra MKIII like that.

Please forum members, let me know what you think of the Cobra? should it be as easy as a two shot kill? especially from behind by a Sidewinder? I know that weapons, Armour etc etc... can be upgraded but surely some ships do have their flaws, however I didn't think the Cobra MKIII would go down so easily while having full shields, Mirrored Armour and a good pilot with a clean licence at the helm, if this is the case then the Cobra MKIII is not the ship it used to be in 1984?

CMDR BOUNDS out!!

The cannon is pretty much overpowered right now. 4 hits (2x2) can cause some serious damage to your ship.

Try to learn to fly around with 4 pips to shield. At least it leaves a little bit more room for these type of... hero's, who gank players out of the blue. Your ship will be slower, but just boost and switch of flight assist for max speed. It will help you to stay out of reach of a Sidi, as they are slower than a Cobra.

Hi vonDutch

Thanks for the info, actually I fly with shields at full all the time when I'm in or around a station as the NPC's have a habit of getting in my way and I've been shunted a few times, so shields were on 4 pips at the time of the attack, however! I do know better about speed & flight assist off and can confirm that I was flying relatively slow and stupidly in a straight line, so pretty much a sitting duck for the attacker, I will learn my lesson in future :)

message for the forum op, I actually wasn't naming or shaming tbh, everyone in Elite Dangerous has the right to play the game as he / she chooses, I believe this is the full philosophy of Elite, so the CMDR in question was being thanked for pointing something out to me, but I understand the rules of the boards so am prepared to apologise, it won't happen again, although if I say "CMDR BOUNDS is a rubbish pilot for letting his Cobra MKIII get attacked so easily", I think you would have to find a good reason for editing that, as I'm naming and shaming myself :)

CMDR BOUNDS out.
