Community Event / Creation CMDR Skrundarlow Presents: Reverse Buckminister Charity Stream

View attachment 68166

Greetings from the Core Commanders!
My name is Harry (CMDR Skrundarlow), and I’ve come to you today bearing news of a once-in-an-every-so-often event!
Starting Friday, 20th November 2015, I will be marathon livestreaming myself attempting to complete a Reverse-Buckminister-Sagittarius-A*-Sol run!
I’m holding this event as a charity fundraiser for my team, who will be walking the Oxfam Trailwalker in Melbourne, Australia next year in April.
There’s nothing much there at the moment but I assure you come broadcast day you will be able to find the stream at http://www.twitch.tv/cmdr_skrundarlow

What is this?
The Oxfam Trailwalker is an event in which competing teams attempt to cover 100km in no more than 48 hours. Teams register in groups of 4, train thoroughly leading up to the event, and attempt the trek. The trail has been announced and can be found at the link below.

Why should I care?
Oxfam is an organization that does fantastic work around the world, providing help and infrastructure aid to those who need it. The Trailwalker is run in cities across the world every year, and goes a long way to raising money and awareness for the organization. You can find out more about the work they do right here:

What do I get out of this?
I’m glad you asked, Commander! I plan on running a few giveaways throughout the stream. What better reason to stop in and say hi?

What makes this not boring??
This is sure to be a tense journey! Just take a look at the cracks on that windshield!!

How can I help?
Well, first and foremost, donating a couple quid towards my team over at the Oxfam Trailwalker website (here: https://trailwalker.oxfam.org.au/my/team/22757) would be fantastic! But that’s not all you can do!
I will most certainly be flying in open and while I do hope that no Commanders take it upon themselves to intercept such a humanitarian mission, it certainly couldn’t help to be prepared for the worst! If you’d like to escort me from somewhere near the bubble, I’d be glad to have some company to bring me home.
Lastly and absolutely not leastly, come stop by sometime through the stream!

Good luck CMDR! If I remember, I'll try to come say hello - either at the start due to me having finished an A* Challenge run (if I am there, it'll probably be in a T7... :D) or towards the end.

Are you planning to do it in one go, or are you following your team's excellent example and giving yourself a maximum of 48 hours? :p

Thank you! I might see if I can't get this publicised some way some how closer to the event :)

And this one I'm planning to do all in one, non-stop broadcast until I'm safe back home!

Good luck! I'll try to pop onto Twitch to say hello on the day.

Sadge to Sol in one sitting? Totally crazy, I can't imagine what sort of crazy CMDR would want to compete a 26,000LY journey in a single sitting! ;)

I've not looked whereabouts you are of the GalMap recently, but weren't you out on a 65K expedition?

You're not doing that in a T7 are you? Because that would be just... well... I'd be like...

Whilst I haven't travelled -that- far on my trip due to limited play time, I -have- been out of the bubble since around April?

Uhrm.... Hi! I've done SOL to SAG in one sitting, which was really uncomfortable because my good pilot seat broke the day before the event.

I'm not going to give the 26,000Ly Club a crack just yet on the count of an excessively uncomfortable temporary pilot seat, but it IS on my list o' things to do in two or less sittings.

Temp. Chair is similar to this: http://officetools.website/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/wooden-chair-designs-zgyV.jpg

Lol, my post was an ironic laugh at myself. I've done the A* run three times now. My BBRA time was in my sig at the time that I posted, but I swapped signatures to help promote Buckyball-9.

I'll be running again on the weekend of the 28th, for the Buckyball Thanksgiving get-together. If you make it back in time, maybe your wing attempt could join us? :)

I will see if I can find your time. Commander Ulrick Octavious plans to run it at some point (Ironically he got me into the game, I ran before him). When he has a week off of work, I'll wing it with him and maybe take the biscuit and go for the 26kLy. Hopefully it will be in the same time frame that you plan on doing it.

I've been back for a while and partook in a couple of CG's since. For the giggles, I had a CG on when I did the run... came back to something like 8mil from the CG and 15m from the Data. Put it this way, it got me my Clipper.

Edit: Wow. just under half my time.. (feeling inferior)
